Solidifying Ace's Premier Position

Eight decades ago, a small group of Chicago-area hardware retailers joined together with a common goal: To combine forces to become stronger competitors. They set out to centralize their buying … provide better value and superior service to their customers … share information … and help each other improve. This group chose to unite under a common name to demonstrate their commitment to teamwork, and so Ace Hardware was formed, honoring the valiant and courageous World War I Ace combat pilots.

From those humble beginnings grew the world’s largest hardware retailer cooperative and one of the most recognized and respected brands in business today. And through the years, the Ace Hardware network has continued to grow by never losing sight of its founding principles: Work together. Combine resources and knowledge. Provide value, selection and helpful, friendly service. Strive for excellence and stay true to your customers; they will repay you with loyalty and repeat business.

Ace has been “the place” for more than 80 years. We’re a globally trusted, yet locally embraced brand. We have a rock-solid foundation and a fad-proof future as America’s housing boom continues. We’re Ace. One Team. Never stronger. Never better. And growth continues on our horizons. After all, the sky’s the limit at Ace.
