How to Use Chemicals Safely
Always read the label before using insecticides. Note ingredients, use directions, warnings and cautions each time before opening the container.After spraying or dusting, wash hands and face and change into clean clothing. Wash clothing immediately.
Keep all insecticides out of the reach of children and pets.Cover food and water containers when treating around livestock or pet areas. Do not contaminate fish ponds.
Always store insecticides in the original containers and keep them tightly closed.Use separate sprayers for applying herbicides to avoid accidental injury to susceptible plants.
Never smoke or eat while spraying or dusting.Always dispose of empty containers so they pose no threat to humans, animals or wildlife.
When handling pesticides, wear a long-sleeved shirt and full-length pants. Some chemicals may require waterproof gloves and goggles. When spraying overhead, wear a wide-brimmed hat.If symptoms of illness occur during or shortly after spraying or dusting, contact a physician or go to the hospital. Take the label from the chemical with you.
Avoid inhaling sprays or dusts.Do not spill sprays or dusts on the skin or clothing. If they are spilled, remove contaminated clothing immediately and wash.
