I have a long haired white mutt that sheds like crazy. Our home is on a lake and has wood floors with large wool area rugs. This vacuum exceeds expectations on picking up fur and the sand brought in from our beach on both. The pet brush attachment removes hair and cleans up our dog's sleeping pad well.

I've had mine for only 3 years and have gone through about 20 belts because they keep breaking (yes they are the right size - I even called the company about it). Also, the pet hand tool stopped working very soon after I began using the vacuum and we have pets that do not shed much. My next vacuum will be a different make and model.

This vacuum has the absolute best suction of any vacuum I have ever owned, and it is about half the price of most of the others I have owned. It's light weight, making it easier to push and quieter than the last couple I had.
The biggest problem is the short cord. I don't know what they were thinking with that. It needs about 10 more feet.
