I have the umbrella positioned so it shades our two-seat glider. Have not had the chance to use it as we have had too much wind. Currently the only downside for me is that the base of the umbrella needs to be weighted down by something else. I have large cement blocks sitting on it.

Make sure when putting it together that the tightening wheels are either in the back of the stand or opposite the crank or you will have to take the bottom apart and move then. It doesn't mention that in the directions. Otherwise we would have been done in minutes! We used large Concrete Patio Blocks and buried the base under our landscape stones by the Patio, worked Great and even stronger. The Umbrella Part covers our bar completely which would not accomadate a stationary umbrella so this will give us the shade we need since the patio is in the sun all day. When finished it all colapses down and the umbrella ties to the pole making it real secure from the wind. I researched a lot of Umbrellas and looked at a lot of them and the bases were way to large and/or the product was not put together well.

Umbrella was very easy to set up. Had one very similar but more expensive than this one, so did not have to purchase a base. The design of this umbrella is much better than the one we had. The wind will turn the umbrella around even with the knobs tightened down all the way, so I drilled a hole through one of the knob holes and inserted a bolt which stopped it from turning. Also sprayed it with scotch guard to make it more water proof. For the money this is a really great umbrella and I'm thinking of purchasing another one when and if this one bites the dust.

I would have gave this offset umbrella 4 stars, one for each adjustment position as I need to adjust the tilt in order to block out the sun from shining in through our sliding patio doors as the sun goes down. Since I needed a wee bit more adjustment to fully accomplish this I simply drilled two more holes in the pole to accommodate the guide pin. A simple fix to the sollution and now I gave it five stars. I simply love this umbrella. BTW I used the same spacing as the factory used when drilling the two new holes so that it would look as if it came that way.

My other off set does not have crank on main pole. this one does and it's makes it super easy to open while standing in the pool.

I love the adjustment capabilities of this umbrella. Haven't had it long and our summer season hasn't arrived yet so, I'm looking forward to using it all summer long. I've had many of these offset umbrellas and this one has the best design at a great value. It's a win win!
