This axe is perfect for splitting small or big logs. Its non-stick blade is easy to remove from a log if it doesn't split on the first swing. It's light weight and easy to use, yet splits some of the biggest logs. The best part is its lifetime guarentee!

I read the reviews on other websites about the new Fiskars x27 long handle splitting axe and thought I didn't fully believe the rave reviews, I had to try one out. I read up on the best way to split large rounds. I have green oak anywhere from 14" to 24". I put a bungee cord around several rounds and split away. It took me about 45 seconds to end up with about 24 nice woodstove size chunks of oak. This would have taken 5 to 8 times as long with a hydraulic splitter. The only thing that may beat it is one of the new centrifugal splitters that cycle in a few seconds.
So it's fast, goes through most rounds in one swing, uses no gas or electricity, costs very little in comparison and I like it because it's good exercise. I'm 66 years old, 5'10" and it works great. Only thing I had to remember and learn is that in most cases I didn't have to wind up and hit the wood so hard as I used to with the big mauls. this thing at about 6 pounds is amazing and beats the heck out of any of the other heavier mauls. Keep the blade sharp and you'll be amazed.
