We use it on a second floor balcony to provide shade. It fits and provides shade. We added curtains for the afternoon sun. It's sturdy. One of the corners ripped in the 30mph winds the first evening but the other corners have held up. We called and they sent us another canopy no questions asked and it arrived in a timely manner. So far we are pleased with our purchase and the customer service.

One of the other reviews noted that this gazebo would probably not stay in place in a wind of 20mph or more and, having installed mine, would agree. However, in that my barbeque island is adjacent to a sturdy fence, I felt I could somehow "strap" the gazebo to the fence. I did this and the gazebo frame is very sturdy. The gazebo's installation directions are clear and installation was simple EXCEPT FOR my having a very difficult time stretching the 2 fabric tops over their roof frames. My finished product is great for its intended purposes of protecting my grill from rain and debris from overhead trees. Only time will tell how well the fabric covers hold up and stay in place under 50mph wind gusts.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Last year I was the "envy" of my Long Beach NY neighborhood, having purchased this from ACE and put in my front patio of my beach front hovel.
I did not use it for the grill but rather had a table with 2 chairs (more intimate) and then at each side, a bar stool.
I draped white sheers and tied them for the summer and come October put up black "spider" netting in it place.
Needless to say, the SANDY Hurrican destroyed this beloved space as well as all of my home under 5 feet of water.
I'm displaced living in a FEMA hotel and only yesterday did I find a NYC apartment with a big outdoor deck. I'm trying to re-create this special place (though with no beach and city views may be difficult).
As a displaced person, have to figure out how to replace a lifetime of furnishings but this piece I'm so happy to have found online!

Great Father's Day gift. We added a reed rollup shade to the long side for added weight, privacy, and shade when the sun is low. We also hung potted plants on the two sides for color and weight. The canopy material is strong and the seams are double stitched - velcro strips help hold it tight to the frame. It definately needs to be anchored for winds above 20 miles per hour. The glass shelves add stability and are handy for beverages, cooking items, etc. It is a fun, useful addition to our backyard.
