Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
I've owned two of these pumps. The Thermoplastic pump parts tend to crack easily. Once this happens, the pump just discharges water back into the sump. Replacement parts are 50% of the original purchase price.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
I purchased this pump as our 100+ year old sump drain collapsed. have run it for over a year with no major issues except that it tips backward. a friend has one and has not had any issues except wearing out as his basement has water runnign in 24x7 365

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
Installed this pump about a year ago and aside from it being noticeably noisier than a metal pump, it performed satisfactorily. Three or four months later I noticed it was taking longer to empty the sump hole, vibrating and sounding as if it were cavitating even though the sump hole was full. Water runs into my cellar at a constant rate year round, and this pump has reached the point where it is barely moving water at all.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
Sumerged pumps will leak. Ace Pedestal pump motor is above water line , and you can fix it .. Hard to find parts on internet but you can call 1 800 237 0987 for parts for this pump. I just oreded a new impeller. Mine split for some reason, but hopefully I can repair it cheaper than replacing it.. Oh, save your sales slip.. It has a 2 year warrenty if you have the sales slip. Most sump pumps I have had did not last long so, keep that warrenty in mind.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
I found my pump running continuously, but not pumping water. When I removed the bottom to examine the impeller a piece of broken plastic fell out from inside. I assume it's the same problem that others have mentioned here, as the impeller is intact. It's ridiculous to design a sump pump with a cheap plastic part that's prone to fail when a flooded basement and a lot of expense is going to be the consequence. I was also frustrated by the lack of an online manual of any sort.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
As to handymans problem,I also experianced the cracked plastic shaft at the motor end caused by small trash clogging the inlet. I found an easy and free repair was to cut an old aluminum handle and place it over the shaft and drill the hole for the set screw.I am surprised that this coupling type method is not done at time of manufacturing.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
After reading all the negative comments on this product, I was very surprised. Our sump pump was installed 12 years ago when I purchased this home; which was on a hill and subjected to alot of run-off. And throughout the years, after mild storms, this pump manage to keep the flooding down to a minimum.
I had to disconnect the power because the float switch was stuck in the 'On' position, and after only 3 hours of mild rain, sump well was flooded and back flowed into the basement.
I definitely will replace it with the same model.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace® Upright Sump Pump:
Recently pump switch would not activate at set level. Pump float would stay under water level, I figured either float ball or switch was bad & went to Belleville, IL store for parts. Switch was in stock, but not float ball. I ended up using a float/rod assembly from a pump with a bad motor. I never did locate a replacement float ball at any nearby Ace store.
