My Wayne ESP33 1/3 HP sump pump float switch started acting up. I could cycle it by pushing the switch up and down over and over again. it started getting worse so I looked for the same pump to make it easy to swap out. The Wayne pump is about 40.00 more for the 1/3. When I saw the Ace hardware version for 99.00 I went to Ace and saw that it was identical for less money. I went for the 1/2 hp version which is still the same size and setup as the wayne...still cheaper. I pulled the old one out and had the new one installed in about 5 min. Working great so far.

They don't make these switches like they used to.
I want reliable switches more than long warranties.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump (Asf 50-N):
The pump is very good. It pumps well with the 8' head in my basement, and never complains. It's noisy, but it's not very expensive and lacks a cast iron base, so that's expected.
The float rod though...dear lord, it's awful. I've replaced mine twice now. I finally gave up and replaced the pump with something else that was stainless and cast iron. Now it sits as a backup, with a piece of coathanger wire supporting the float.
If the float wire were replaced with stainless or plastic, it'd be a wonderful sump pump. Until then, it's only adequate.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump (Asf 50-N):
Purchased this pump over 7 years ago and just replaced again with the same product for peace of mind. After cleaning the original pump off (saving it as a backup), I have to say that it is in remarkably good condition--almost no rust at all and still operates just as well as the day it was purchased.
As most pumps (any brand) fail due to float switch corrosion, I removed the factory float and re-installed the same Wayne brand "Electronic Sump Pump Control & Alarm" that I had purchased for the original pump. This system is nearly foolproof.
In summary, I would highly recommend the Ace pump/Wayne Control combination.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump (Asf 50-N):
Just outside of warranty the impeller snapped off. There was no debris in the impeller chamber which could have interefered with the pump operation. The local store did not offer help which is unusual for Ace. I needed a quick solution so I had to buy a replacement pump.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump (Asf 50-N):
Pump works great, but the rod on the float rusted out with the washer that holds it in place. Float fell to side and jammed in the running position, luckly someone was home and turned off the power before it burned up. Rod should have been make out of stainles steel or plastic, my pump was a couple of years old, maybe they have modified this part.
I had to buy a new pump, was told they had no replacement parts, probably a $1 item.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace 1/2 HP Submersible Sump Pump (Asf 50-N):
The Ace pump motors are faithfull. Our runs so infrequent that the float rod will rust causing the float to stick on the rod. I used to replace the pump but insted I changed the rod to a nylon rod and seems to have fixed it.

This pump is terrible. Vibrates and makes noise like crazy and there is no adjustment of the float. Stay away from this one.
