Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
This little guy saved my butt with hurricane Sandy. Unable to clear out a basement storm drain and bought the day Sandy hit town. Over a 24 hour period, must have pumped out 150 - 200 gallons of rain water that would have flood my basement. Just ordered the Watchdog Dual Float so that I won't have to monitor.
Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
Same as the other review someone else wrote. Have a easy set pool with the plug near the bottom. Drained for two days and left me with a few inches of water. Tied to use the pool filter/pump to drain it and even tried to use a small submersible fountain pump. No go with either. Went to the local "Megamart" and they didn't even have the pumps in stock and I was told to check online even though they said they were in stock. Kind of defeated the purpose of I need it kind of now. Went to ACE and bought this pump. Guys were helpful and it's been in the back, pumping water like no one's business.

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
I have a static drain on the hot tub, which is hard to reach, plus by the time you hook up to the garden hose you have water all over the place...I fought this for 2 years....my tub sits in an enclosed patio.....well this 1/6 hp pump from ACE, dumped the water in 5 mins flat, no mess no fuss!

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
My basement has taken on water due to a high water table from the wet winter we have had. I use these pumps to maintain the water until the table subsides and the water stops coming up through the cement floor. I love the fact that they extract the water fast and down so low! I just wish they were built with an automatic shut off when no water is detected so that I wouldn't have to keep unplugging & plugging in so as not to burn them out.
Pros
- Draws down to 18"
- Durable
- Easy to clean
- Easy To Use
Cons
- Underpower for long hoses
Best Uses
- Moderately muddy conditio
Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
We use during back yard service line water leaks to de-water during the digging down to fix the leak. Pin roots and other small debris are easy to clear by hand at intake screen. Pump sucks down water to about 1/8" but cannot handle slurry (very muddy water). Use a 3/4" hose no longer than 8' if water leak is under pressure and hole fills quickly (an 8' hose will shoot a stream of water in an arc about 6' high- the longer the hose, the lower the volume/pressure being moved).

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
Went to Home Depot first and bought a more expensive Pump by Flosum. Never again. Make sure you buy the 1/4 HP unit. It's worth it's weight in gold.

Cons

Best Uses
- Above ground pools
Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
I need to drain a 4'x 15" above ground pool. Once the pool had gravity drained below the drain plug (3 days) I needed to remove the water left in the bottom (about 2-4 inches worth.) Didn't want to spend alot so I bought a big hand pump (designed for 55 gallon drums.) After about 30 minutes I realized that the[$] I saved was actually not worth the time and energy used with a manual pump (moved about 5 gallons.) I bought this one, and it cleared the bottom of the pool in an hour or so....it works well for this purpose, next year the whole pool!

Comments about ACE HARDWARE Ace Utility Pump:
The drip pan in my attic HVAC unit filled up and I needed a way to get the water out without carrying it from the attic into the house. I connected a garden hose to the pump and placed it in the drip pan. The pumped sucked most of the water out and into the bathtub in minutes. The size makes the pump difficult for small areas, but gets the water down to 1/8 in.
