The pump itself performs quite well. The float switch is complete garbage. I have seen this float switch completely submerged and still not turning on the pump. Stick with a Flo-Tech or Wayne, or buy a replacement switch from the 2 mentioned companies.

This pump was easy to install, but seems to get hot even under water. Since I have switched to the 1/2 hp Wanye sump pump, the water problems have gone away.

First of all, I NEVER write reviews but I just had to with this item.
I just love this pump for a number of reasons. It is quiet. It doesn't get hot and heat up my koi pond. It has LARGE intake holes and will pump smaller solids, which is a major plus in koi ponds. I rarely have to clean the intake as a result. Small solid pumping pumps are VERY expsive compared to this price and this does it better than all the ones I have owned.
I am hard on my pond pumps because they run 24/7 in 10 - 100+ degree weather. This one has been running a large bio filter(300 gallons) with a water fall at a rise of 4 feet. The pond itself is over 5,000 gallons. Plenty of power.
I have owned large koi ponds for over 25 years now and this is hands down the best pump for what I use them for. I hope they keep making this because I plan on using this type from here on out!
