I looked at Kamado Joe, Big Green Egg, and Primos cookers. After researching each brand, I ultimately decided on the KJ Big Joe. My local dealer said that KJ's customer service was excellent, above and beyond the competition. My unit is brand new, so I can't speak from experience. However my local dealer swears that if you need a part (warranty service), your new part is on your doorstep in 48 hours. Customer service, grilling space, ease of use, ceramic thickness, gasket quality, hinge action, and price all played into my decision. KJ's cradle/stand/nest is very sturdy and better designed than the BGE's. Also, with the Big Joe, one price gets you the grill, cradle with collapsible side tables, tools, and the included firebox divider for simultaneous direct/indirect cooking. Another great feature is the grill grate's hinged door, allowing one to add extra coals or wood chips/chunks without disturbing the meat or grill grate on a long cook or smoke. You will be well pleased with a Kamado Joe.
