Here is how to use the shield with good results: (1) Make sure the shield is compatible with your bowl. (2) Mix in dry ingredients on LOW speed. It will keep the flour from flying out of the bowl. (3) Pour liquids slowly, hitting the spout on the shield. It will flow down to the sides of the bowl. This is especially convenient for incorporating sugar water into egg whites. I love my shield and use it every time I use the mixer. I have had my setup for over 24 years and have made over 1,000 cakes with it. I am a very messy cook and the shield has been a lifesaver.

I have the current production shield, which does not work well at all. It has gaps in the ring that allow the material in the bowl to exit the bowl. I just saw the OLD shield design at my mom's. It has a full ring, without gaps. Bring back the old design, KitchenAid!

Not a good accessory

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

The pouring shield came with the mixer I purchased. It simply doesn't stay put on the mixing bowl. The slightest touch and it falls off! I am completely disappointed in this product. I wonder if it fits better on a glass bowl as compared to a metal one.

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

I just bought my first Kitchenaid mixer and am so disappointed with the pouring shield that came with my mixer. It does not fit the bowl and falls off with the slightest touch. This was designed so poorly! All they need to do is add another small piece to the plastic tabs so that it actually grabs the bowl. Kitchenaid- please fix this!!

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

My daughter got this for me for Christmas. I wish we would have read the reviews before she got it. It's just as the reviews say, it doesn't fit the glass bowl and flops around. Very frustrating to spend money on something that just doesn't work. KitchenAid should redesign this product and recall the current ones.

This is more likely to cause an accident than help. It moves around and comes off while trying to pour in ingredients. Very poor design.

What a great idea but a poor product. Hasn't fit well since day 1, always falls off and now is broken from falling off bowl. Just had to throw away and I guess will have to use a towel over bowl. Disappointed...

Kitchen-aid Shield

By Lillie

from Humble, TX, United States

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

I would not recommend this because it never stays on no matter what I do. Can't pour any light weight items into it. I lay a kitchen towel or paper towel over my Kitchen-aid when adding ingredients. If a new shield becomes available I would be more than eager to purchase it.

It doesn't work at all

By Tatiana

from London, United Kingdom

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

I love kitchen aid but I make loads of cakes and I can never use the pouting shield when baking with icing sugar or flour or liquid because the shield doesn't fit properly, it's not sealed all the way around so everything goes everywhere. Other brands have better options and I'm seriously consider giving up my kitchen aid because of that. I'm fed up of having my work tops and kitchen dirty for no reason and having to use a tea towel as a shield should not be the solution.

Bad design

By Coxp80

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

Purchased a new mixer and was very excited to use it and to my dismay the pouring shield doesn't fit well, liquids come out from under the edge and it falls off when trying to use it. This is my third mixer and thank goodness I still have my old pouring shield from my last mixer.

Keep Flour in the Bowl

By Mistress of Cupcakes

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

This is especially helpful when baking bread or muffins. As you add the flour it is trapped in the bowl and the mixer can continue to work!

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

I wish I could give this zero stars. It does not fit properly. When used, it pops off the bowl and rattles. Each time I use the mixer, I try to use this shield and end up getting completely frustrated and disenchanted with the product.

Does this even work????

By Sammy T

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

I bought a Kitchenaid Artisan KSM150PSER for an early Christmas present for myself. I have wanted one for years and was eagerly anticipating making my Christmas cookies with it. One if the features that I was excited about was the pouring shield. from day one it has never stayed on the bowl. As soon as you put it on, it will pop off and go flying off the counter. With the reputation that Kitchenaid has for making such quality equipment, I am very disappointed with the pouring shield.

What a disappointment

By jpw94

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

My K45SS mixer is one of the best applicances I ever owned. 23 years and still going strong. One thing we never had was a pour shield. My wife purchased one yesterday and we thought it would be great. FAIL! it does not fit the bowl properly. Falls off. Certainly a departure from the quality I have come to expect from Kitchenaid.

More hindrance than help

By Ashley

from Pittsburgh, PA

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

At first I thought it was user error in how I installed the shield but not the case. The shield does not stay in place, it moves, it slides, it falls in the mixing bowl while in use. Its very annoying and frustrating so much so that I don't even use the shield. It would be nice if the shield snapped into place. Very unsatisfied.

Doesn't work at all.

By drealeed

from Springfield, OH

Comments about KitchenAid® Pouring Shield (KN1PS):

I just got this today for my 4.5 qt stainless steel mixing bowl. Even with a piece of saran wrap across the open area to help keep down the mess, it fit loosely and slipped off and flour got out between the top of the bowl and the bottom of the guard, even when it was on. Badly fitting. Made a bigger mess than no shield would have. Never using this one again!
