Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
Have added chains across the top (long sides) to prevent log weight from bending uprights outward. Also hook eyes on bottom to attach log rack cover with bungees: keeps cover from flying up in mountain wintertime high winds. Add felt pads on bottom to place racks on wooden deck just outside front door: convenience in wintertime.
Best solution to convenient, strong wood storage I've found and I've tried the metal racks.
Pros
- Easy to assemble
- Expandable
- Sturdy
Cons
Best Uses
- Convenience

Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
I bought one of these last year and used it all winter. Stored it over the summer and got it out for the season in October. No sign of rust, and it assembled as easy as ever - all you have to do is insert pairs of 2x4s of whatever length suits you into the horizontal and vertical openings. I'm going to buy another to keep green wood in until it seasons.
Highly recommend!

Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
After viewing the previous poster's pics of his two racks, I decided to purchase some of my own. Like my title, these brackets are good, not great. They are ideal for creating a single row firewood stack. Because of my rack's dimensions (16 ft. x 1 ft. x 6 ft.), I needed 45 degree supports. There was no way the brackets were going to hold without the additional supports. At these dimensions, each rack will hold approximately 1 cord of wood. In short, I'm very happy with my purchase.
Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
I ordered two sets of brackets and built them as instructed. I now have two 10' long x 5' tall stacks of wood that feel very sturdy. It took about 5 minutes to build each set. They come with a set of small wood screws to anchor the sides and bottom to the 2x4s. Mainly to hold them together while you build them, because once the wood is in place, the brackets would probably hold it all together without the screws. If you have some longer than 1" wood screws handy, it wouldn't hurt, but in general, I have no complaints and my wood stacks look great.
Pros
- Easy to use
Cons
- Difficult assembly
- Tight Fit
Best Uses
- Firewood Storage
- Safety
Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
Have set up 3 log racks with these brackets. I have two more on order with my local ACE store. If you're concerned about the rack now being "sturdy" enough, just add another set on the top to make a "box" log rack. The 2x4's are a little diffficult to put in place, but worth the effort. Once assembled, you're "good-to-go".
Pros
- Sturdy Rugged
Cons
- Too Snug
Best Uses
- Firewood Storage
Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
While the directions and description state that these brackets are designed for use with "over sized" lumber (as most pressure treated boards are), I found that in order to use this type of materiel, I needed to use a sledge hammer during rack assembly. Since this is my first experience with these brackets, I am not certain, but this may have been due to rough handling during shipping. There is not much protection for the brackets within the box. This minor inconvienience, however, does not take away from the usefulness of the product. I intend to purchase several more sets to store all of my wood.
Pros
- Very sturdy
Cons
- Heavy
Best Uses
- Firewood holders
Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
Love it - I'd been looking for something sturdy as opposed to the cheap, yet still over-priced, hollow-metal firewood holders that are readily available everywhere. The instructions are clear and helped me cut my wood down to the exact dimensions of a store-bought water-proof cover. Very strong and durable.

Comments about Hy-C® Log Rack Kit (SLRK):
Expensive for what they are. If you are stacking wood save your money and research how to stack wood in a self supporting manner. Although if kids are around you may want to purchase these brackets. It would be cool to make a quick work bench with them (this is included in the instructions).
