I first purchased a black & decker that was a rechargeable, but it did not have half the power the dirt devil has. I use it mainly to clean/suck up after my long hair cat or small spills or small construction jobs that leave plaster etc residues.
I have a large shop vac...but I hate dragging out the R2D2 unless i'm doing a large job.
This little dirt devil is worth buying.

Great for cleaning up after young children.
is also helpful in sucking up ants, flies at the window and then easily emptying the captured bugs outside.
If you put paper-towel in the dust capture space, you can also suck up liquids in small quantities that even canister wet-dry vacs are not powerful enough to get up.
The blower attachment is GREAT for filling the air in an inflatable pool for my little daughters in the summer.
My favorite household appliance/ tool bar none.
