Purchased this for my husband who is very difficult to please. He LOVES it! Sturdy construction, heavy. Keeps logs where they are supposed to be - the size is perfect for our larger fireplace. Sides tilt up higher than most grates. So very glad I bought it.

We keep a fire going for the best part of five months as our primary heat source. By the time we get to the last month of burning, there usually are a few missing bars in the grate, and some warping. It's what happens when iron and fire get together for a long enough period. This is the best one I've found in over 50 years of burning wood for heat. It would be nice not to need to buy a new one every year. Grin n bear it!

I usually don't like early reviews. Have had it 2 weeks and built several good fires, and seems to be a real heavy duty grate. I like these cast iron grates as holds the coals up to keep it burning good

This is a heavy grate so when you place logs on it the grate doesn't move around in the firebox. The one-piece design makes teh feet much more stable than a unit where the feet are assembled onto it because they have loosened on me and then it wobbles and may collapse. This design is much better.

I bought this to replace the existing grate in the fireplace of our recently purchased home. It is cast iron and very well made. Fits the fireplace like it was made for it. I am very happy with the spacing of the bars on the grate - it holds the wood without letting the embers fall down. Another great product from Ace!

Overall, my husband and me were very impressed with this grate. It's only flaw is that sits fairly far above the embers which prevent the radiant heat from keeping a fire going longer. Otherwise, great grate :)
