This unit is very basic but VERY reliable. I've tried the newer units with more features but none seem to be as well built as this one. If you are looking for a single station watering system this is great. The only draw back is that it is simple and you must program it at the time you want it to water (so if you want it to turn on at 4am you must program it at 4am and then it remembers that time)

Once the batteries run out and I replace with new batteries there is a horrible loud clicking like it is igniting and it won't stop unless I take the batteries out. I have had to replace the entire unit 4 times. I don't understand why it works on the first set of batteries and then when they run out and I replace with a new set of batteries I get the clicking that won't stop and if you leave it clicking it burns out the unit.

Over time valve fails to operate

Comments about Raindrip ® Electronic Drip System Watertimer (R672CT):

Based on my own experience with one of these, I echo fully the remarks of some other reviewers:
The product has the drawback that it must be programmed at the time one wants to use it.
After a year of use, the mechanism failed to operate the valve with the water supply turned on--it just clicks as if a gear is slipping. Turn off the water supply and the valve operates just fine.
I never had a problem with it leaking, however.

I have 6 stations (6 timers) in my large yard in the foothills of the mountains. These are inexpensive, but really have to be replaced every year because of the interior leaking. The battery door is also hard to open. Would love a better quality product under $30.

After 2 weeks it started leaking. It would flood the battery compartment and also leak at the base where it screws on the faucet. I could not stop the leaks. I do not recomend this unit.

After a long search for a timer that would work with my rainbarrel, I found this timer. It works great. Most timers require more water presure than my rainbarrel produces. I hooked the barrel to a soaker hose with the timer. The soaker hose is a slow soak with low presure, but I let it run 2 hours. Vegs are growing good!

I recently started a drip irrigation system using raindrip products. The products are great but this timer is not that great. It leaks and leaks. I have tried 2 different ones to see, then went online and found that this particular one does leak and was recommended to switch to something else like a Dig hose end timer. I am going to try the Dig. Do yourself a favor and don't get this one.

I have owned 2 or 3 of these and they work fine. As another reviewer indicated, you have to program it WHEN you want it to water. It times everything from the time you turn it on. The only problem I have had with these is cracking from freezing and that is NOT the fault of the unit. I am on my way to purchase another because the one I have cracked this past winter from a good solid freeze.

I bought two of them and replaced 4 times.
They worked fine at first. After a few weeks of use, the valve inside sticks and starts generating click noise when it rotates. Water did not stop today. Another problem I had was that the water leaked into the battery room. I need to find other products before the vegetable in my backyard all die during my business trip. I would not recommend this if you travel often.

Of my two installations one has needed replacement twice. When it fails, or the batteries run down, it can leave your water either on or off. Not good if you are on vacation. Be sure to replace batteries before leaving. Other than that, and needing to program it at watering time (see prev. review), it is extremely handy to have an inexpensive, automatic system.
