Comments about Wayne® Submersible Sump Pump (CDU790):

My old sump pump got stuck and stayed on. I went online and found out it is a common problem with the company. So I started doing some research and looked at other products from big box stores that have a 1 year warranty and the like; the price was also much more expensive then this one. So, after reading about Wayne and their products and customers who love them, the warranty, the price and the ability to get it shipped to my house, I could not refuse it.

Pros: much more quite then the 6 year old zoeller 50 series I had. It is more powerful then the old one, just by observation and then going and comparing GPM according to their websites Wayne destroys my old one. It also takes the water level in the sump pump much lower then my old one which I like, it doesnt directly take from the bottom regarding where it gets its water, rather it takes the water from about 2" higher and on the side; that comes in handy if you have sand and rocks that keep coming into your sump pit like me, it will afford the product a longer life. Installation took 2 minutes and 43 seconds. I unscrewed the old one and screwed this one in with no problem. Plummbers wanted anywhere from $250-450 for the job, I read the directions and went on youtube to double check, too easy.

Cons: to be honest, I have not found one as of yet and I have had the pump for a couple weeks.

If you need a pump, please dont hesitate to buy this one compared to some of the ones on the shelves at your big box stores. You get a superior product, great warranty from an amazing company and a product that displays great craftsmanship.

Comments about Wayne® Submersible Sump Pump (CDU790):

This pump is well built for the price. This one replaces a 30 year old Wayne pump of the same design. The negative review mentioned the switch not tripping on until he put in a rubber sleeve is interesting because my old pump has a rubber sleeve. I will be transferring the rubber sleeve to the new pump.

Comments about Wayne® Submersible Sump Pump (CDU790):

It was easy to install. It makes less noise that the old pump (I do not know the brand of old pump.)
So far it's been working fine for its first month. We had a snow storm in late March so the snow melt made the pump run every 2 hours or so for 3 days. After that the pump runs 3 times a day and sounds happy to do its work. ;-)
If it something wrong happens, I'll come back and post the news.

            Won't shut off

Comments about Wayne® Submersible Sump Pump (CDU790):

This is a serious problem because if a pump fails, a person has serious problems.. The pump has some sort of an economy float unit that is attached to the bottom of the pump with a rubber strap. The problem is that the strap keeps the pump from turning off sometimes because it does not allow for sufficient free fall of the float. The way that I corrected the problem was to insert a 1/4" flexible rubber piece on the top of the float rod and above the switch arm so that the pump would shut off 1/4" higher. Now it works okay but I would not buy another one.
