I was always having troubles with my gas mower so I purchased this reel lawn mower. I was afraid it would be difficult to push since I have back problems, but it was pretty easy and I also got some fun exercise! It's actually FUN to go out and mow my lawn! It's easier to push than my gas powered mower!!!

Unfortunately, there are two 31098-3 parts in the upper handle assembly, one on the left and one on the right. After the right one broke, I tried to get one online[...]I duct taped the two cracked pieces together and modified how I pushed the mower. Today, the left handle failed in the same place as before. Great little mower. I just purchased it so I can not attest to long term durability but the handle seems sturdy to me. Cuts much easier than I imagined and on my small yard is quicker than the gas mower because it is so easy to manuever.

If you want to maintain your yard with this type of lawn mower you have to cut it often 'cause the yard will get too long to get cut properly with this. I like that it doesn't make much noise plus it has no motor to have to start, no gas to put in, etc. A BIG CON is that Ace Hardware has a promotion during the month of April 2012 saving $15 if $125 is spent but I was denied this $15 'cause Ace Hardware says that this reel lawn mower is a power equipment. HOW can that be when I supply the power?

If they made a 60 cm model I would buy it. Good buy for the price. Need to mow every four days during growing season. I have cut 15 cm grass with it. For tall weeds use a WeedHound to pull, for too tall grasses, use an electric grass trimmer to knock down.
Would love to hear how to deal with grass that likes to lay/grow flat, odd grass. Also there are certain grasses that are hard to deal with like super fine and tough (I call steel grass) that acts like steel wool. But keeping the grass short helps, mow twice a week.

Had on in 1966 when I was 12 used it to mow a lot of lawns bought this one from my neighbor who had got ot for his wife I think she used it once it does a great job my lawn is a small lawn I get my walking in and my lawn mowing done at the same time. I think you need to take your time at first until you get the feel of it and try not to let the lawn get to high. My lawn looks awsome love the mower oh yes by the way do you need to sharpen the blades.

This is my first Reel Mower. I did a lot of research and ordered other more expensive models to return them. The best Reel Mower in my opinion because it does NOT have any plastic parts which in the case of the more expensive models, tend to break. Its metal construction also gives it enough weight to cut properly. Beware of the light weight plastic models out there! I will say that using the mower is significantly different than a gas mower. It is harder to push and requires two passes in some cases to get an even cut. I would recommend this mower to someone who has a small yard to cut and a person who will be patient enough to get over the differences inherent in the design versus a conventional gas mower. It is not the same. I still am not completely efficient in my cutting but each time it becomes more natural.

It does a nice job cutting grass, although I wish it cut a little shorter than the min 1". If the grass is long or if you have dandelions it just pushes them over without cutting. The handle is flimsy and the sides of the top handle piece actually broke off where it connects to the bottom handle.[...] I like how easy it is to push and it doesn't use gas, so It's pretty quiet. I bought mine in 2007, hopefully future models will fix these design flaws.

I love not having to fill up with gas! Does'nt cut perfectly even, but if you do a second pass diagonally, it works well! The gears did go out, but one call to the company and they sent me new ones free of charge. Seems the old ones were made with a bad plastic, new ones last much longer! After one season, my grass looks awesome! Loves the reel!

I have a bermuda front lawn and was really worried that this mower would not work well with it. I have seen mixed reviews with push reel mowers and bermuda grass. I have been making sure that I cut it every 4 days or so and it just works great. I really like the look afterwards. If I hit a real thick patch I will notice it, but it really never slows me down. It really does not take any more time to cut. Actually it's faster since I don't have to deal with the gas, etc of my gas powered mower.
This is a really great buy and I highly recommend this mower. I noticed that some of the users complaining about the loose handle. It is a little loose, but I find that it helps with the turns and moving it around. It seems that it is supposed to be this way.
