Just received it today. I repeatedly tested two spots of soil, one treated with fast acting lime the other without. I don't believe that lime treated spot reads even lower pH level than the spot with no treatment.
I will try other spots and see if I want to return it then get a more professional meter.

I found no matter how well the soil was "prepared", the reading never changed. Maybe I bought a defective tester, so I am hoping to exchange.
At this time I would recommend the tester for the price and ease of use, IF it works.

Before putting my tomato plants in the garden, I wanted to check the ph. I had added lime about 2 weeks ago in the holes where the tomatoes will eventually be planted and the ph meter reflected the higher ph due to the added lime. Testing was done after a heavy rain so the soil was perfect according to the instructions on the box (slightly muddy). Seems to work fine for the price you pay.
