I found a way to make the chrome hinges last a long time without rust. When I first install them, I paint them with clear nail polish. Or, you could buy lacquer in a spray can. We have had no rust for over a year!

The "chrome" hinges on this product are really just metal covered with silver paint. We installed these three months ago and now we have rusty hinges on the backs of our toilets. I wish we had never bought these.
