Had expensive floor lamp that quit working. When I determined it was this switch, no one carried it in-house and only Ace and one other store had it online. Ace offered it for the right price and I shipped to store for free. Got a call to pick it up in just a couple of days. Once installed, lamp works perfectly.

Since there is no soldering involved, I made sure the wire nuts were going to stay connected by wrapping them with electrical tape. Also, since the leads from the switch were so long, I found it necessary to disconnect a large portion of the original wire coming from the lamp to the switch. Otherwise, it would be problematic to stuff all the wires in the small torchiere tube. The switch was a tight fit to place in the tube but I managed by slightly squeezing the tube to allow the clearance I needed to get the switch in place. Make sure you follow instructions regarding the wire connections.

The unit was a little bit bigger than the hole insertion. It was a little bigger in diameter of the unit I replaced. I had to force it into the tube of the lamp post.

This part is pretty hard to find. It seems only random Ace stores have it, I found mine in store for [$]. I had no problem fitting it into the tube and the instructions were simple. The lamp has one ribbed and one non-ribbed cord. Match the white one off the switch with the ribbed cord on the lamp and you're set. It saved my flame thrower and was my last resort. If it didn't work, that 20-year old lamp was going to be thrown away.

Local ace store had it in stock. Got it home and had the replacement done in 15 minutes or less.
Comes with everything you'd need except the pliers/wirestripper to remove the old part and prepare the wires on the lamp. otherwise, the wires on the product are prestripped and the wire nuts are the easy screw on type.
Directions on back make sure you get the wires right.
Only difficulty was that the housing is a just a bit larger than the housing for the part I was replacing, so it was a tight fit getting it inside my torchier tube. Had to jiggle it around a bit and use my needlenose to open up the hole the switch goes into a bit, as there was a slight depression around the hole. Could have shaved just a touch off the switch with a file, or could have removed the housing too and used the old housing, that would have worked too, but it wasn't that hard either way. These are generic switches, but not all torchiers are the same diameter. Nothing major, just something to be aware of.

Very easy to swap out. Didn't have to replace lamp after dimmer went bad.
This should be stocked in stores, at least it was available. Loved the free shipping when it goes to a local Ace store.
If your lamp stops working and the bulb is good, this is what you need to "see the light again".
