Don't remove your existing dimmer control from the lamp until you have your new control. There are no wiring instructions, so you need to either make your own wire color connection list or move one wire at a time from the old control to the new control. Other than that, it works great and was much less expensive than buying a new touch-lamp.

Lamps I have use a control that measures 5/8" x 1-1/2" x 2". Westek 6503 measures 9/16" x 1-3/4" x 2-5/16". There is a cast metal piece in the base of the lamp that restricts installation. Most lamps have a 40 to 50 watt limit on the bulb. A touch control with a lower power rating may work. Also wires in the 6503 look like 18 or 20 AWG.

This product is inexpensive and it works great. My touch lamp lost it's touching functionality but now it works again. The instructions are not too detailed but it's sufficient if you have some sort of clue to what you are doing.
