I recently purchased an electric car from Global Electric Motorcars (GEM) which plugs into my house 110 volt outlet. GEM recommends using a 12 gauge extension cord. This extension cord fits the bill. I love the lighted plug because GEM recommends that the car be plugged in when not being driven for optimal battery life. At night I can simply look out the window and see the lighted cord plugged into the front of the car.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My sole purpose in getting this heavy duty cord was for a new Electric Patio Grill. I had literally been searching for weeks for the right one and found it at ACE. I did not need 25, 50 or 100 feet of heavy-duty extension cord,so this fits the bill perfectly. Very well made.
