i was looking for a co meter and thought this would work.it only reads the co when its going off.i have one upstairs that goes off but this one doesnt do anything.still havent finished reading the complicated instructions

This Dectector found traces of CO2 gas over 1.5 years after it was installed, Apparently my gas burner was malfunctioning. I have shut it down for now until i can investigate. Fire department confirmed my findings, Somehow CO2 is leaking from the exhaust of my burner inside the home (upstairs!). With my wife 8 months pregnant, I didnt hesitate in contacting the Fire Department to make sure that was the cause. I am here now to purchase some more of these detectors as after this mishap, and after professional repairs even, I wont have any confidence without it. I highly recommened this product to anyone. It might be a bit pricy but it is worth every last penny. My only complaint is it seems to drain the 9v battery even though it is plugged into AC. I couldnt care less about the batteries at this point. Well worth every last dollar and cent and every 9v battery i replaced (twice).

I installed this detector in our 1,500 sf ranch home, then tested and reset it multiple times (including with our gas stove) before deciding to post this review. After each test, it successfully reset and continues to function properly. As a side note, I decided to buy from this manufacturer after having multiple problems with a slightly cheaper model/mfg. Additionally, I was pleased to find my local ACE Hardware keeps these in stock and I did not have to wait on shipping.

I can tell you that this device is very important to have in any living space. The home just down the street from ours burned down the other day due to a an undetected gas leak. At the very least, this will offer you an early warning and could save your life if the leak occurs during the night when you cannot smell anything.
