Comments about Empire® Pocket Plane Replacement Blade (8901):
When I saw this was "Empire" branded I thought it migh just be a Stanley re-brand for Ace. When I attempted to use it, however, I noticed the ends where both mounting flanges are spot-welded onto the rasp material, there is a significant bulge on the cutting side. This elevates the cutting surface off of the workpiece, preventing the teeth from engaging any material, unless you're able to overhang the ends off the workpiece.
It does seem to fit fine in my Surform plane, and does remove material if you can get the teeth to engage, but that's about it. It's also more than twice as expensive as the correct Stanley part.
