Comments about Flexi® Retractable Dog Leash:
The plastic locking mechanism on the one rated at 100lbs broke on the one we own when our 70lb lab mix charged. It was a really nice leash until that happened, and if your dog is better trained for walking on a lead than ours is, then it would probably hold up fine. But if your dog is not yet well-trained, this is definitely not the leash you want.
Or, if you have a smaller dog, you maybe could get away with one rated for a larger dog, so that the pulling force (think HS Physics, f=ma) doesn't exceed the rated limit, whatever that means. Pulling is one thing, but acceleration, like when a dog charges, is another issue entirely. I don't know how they rate these leashes but it didn't work out for us.
In it's favor, although the locking mechanism broke, the lease did NOT come off the handle, so the dog didn't get loose when it broke.
