What were the designers thinking? The cord supplied was a measly 11.5 inches. The previous electric starter I owned had a 38 inch cord. When one uses this product on a Weber grill, it can only be used with an extension cord. So every time you plan to grill, you have to schlep the extension cord out.

I bought two of these last year - one lasted for about five uses, the other died after just one use. On June 21, 2008, I bought another and used it four times and it died. I've used many electric wands over the years with little problem, but the poor quality of Grill "Life" is beyond belief. Any wand I use is never stored outside nor are they exposed to the elements, they are always kept in the garage. There is no excuse for a product like this to last less than two weeks. The fact that the company's web site is nothing more than a blank page speaks volumes about the fact that they don't want to hear complaints from customers who have been duped into purchasing their shoddy wares.

Easy to use but you must unplug after only 8 minutes. Not as fast as a charcoal "chimney" but it seems to start the charcoal OK. Like all electric starters, a bit hard to start more than a few pieces of charcoal at a time. Just plan an extra 10-15 minutes and you will be fine. Solidly built and a good value.
