If the product has been on the shelf for any length of time then the tape is almost impossible to flatten out. The closer to the inner core, the worse the curve. Additionally the adhesive will dry out. Which means that you will have to use super glue to affix to any surface. So the substrate to which you are affixing the magnetic strip to will have to be hard. a flat strip would be better, but try to find it.

This strip is awful. I thought I was getting a good deal on a magnetic strip, but I just wasted my money. I would have returned to the store, but I had already cut to size and adhered.
I measured, cleaned the surface I was adhering to, and pulled the backing. I laid it on the surface, and pressed over it and held put a weight on it to keep it down for a good 30 seconds or so. Took the weight off, came back 5 min later to find it peeling off. So, I had to use super glue to get it to stick.
Then later when I went to hang stuff with the magnetic there was next to no magnetic pull. Magnets in phone holders are stronger, magnets on cheap refrigerator magnets are better. In all honestly, this is the weakest magnetic item I have ever used.
