We bought this product in November 2008 and have made about 3 batches of ice cream. It worked very well and we are going to buy another one for a birthday present for an adult child. We especially like the clear plastic top which allows you to look in and see how the ice cream is freezing.

Motor would unlock as ice cream churned. Had to hold the motor in place or motor would come off! Possible design flaw. Don't waste your money on this product.

The blue plastic ice holder does not hold the motor in place very well. The blue plastic is too flimsy. Found myself having to hold the motor in place by hand until the ice cream was finished.

With two daughters and two granddaughters, we make a lot of ice cream during the summer. Its hard to find ice cream freezers bigger than a 4 quart. It was nice to find this one online[...]The freezer works great...except for not making the ice cream fast enough for my ice cream loving family...haha

When the motor worked, it froze ice cream fast but if the motor burns out after three freezings, it becomes expensive. Need to know how I can get a new motor. Used it three times last year. Got ready to use it this year and the motor was locked up. It tried to lock up last year but finally worked. Not this year. Had to borrow a friend's freezer to avoid disappointing a bunch of little girls at a swim party. Thank goodness her motor didn't lock up after three uses.

Operated as described. Easy and simple. I like the plastic tub vs. a wooden tub. Could use a lower drain hole for easier brine drainage. Easy clean-up, as well. I may have to adjust my recipe which worked well in a White Mountain 6-quart manual freezer. First batch didn't fill the canister much beyond half. Overall, happy with purchase, especially considering the price.

Growing up in a small farm community in the 50's all there was to do was make ice cream on Sunday afternoons so I am very familiar with hand crank & electric ice cream freezers. This is a piece of junk and I should have known because it is so lightweight and many parts are thin plastic. Motor seizes and locking mechanism does not hold motor in place, in fact it broke the first time we used it. Don't waste your money buying this. The tub, motor and locking mechanism should be substantial.

Makes ice cream making frustarating and it is suppossed to be fun! Does not work well. Jams easily. I had to stop/restart about a dozen times...waste of time and money! Second time I used it, it was even worse...motor unlocked and jammed several times.

The shape of the container precludes cooling all but the two ends of the batch. The motor would seize up easily.
