These "Havahart® X-Small 2-Door Traps" and the "Havahart® X-Small 1-Door Traps" are GREAT. I love them. So far in the last 30 days these traps have captured 33 chipmunks. I've got 3 of the X-Small 1-Door Traps and just received 3 more of the X-Small 2-Door Traps giving me six of the X-Small 2-Door Traps. I live in town with a very small woods next to me. Seems to be a great area for chipmunks. They were always digging in the yard and under the deck. I see them running along the side of the house, the side of the shed, and running along the fence row. So, that's where I put the traps. I don't use any bait, just wait for them to try and scamper through. In addition to the chipmunks, these traps have captured a bunch of mice, several rabbits, a few squirrels, and a few shrews. As I said before, I love these traps. A quick ride down to the big city park, and they all have a new home. I've noticed a lot less damage and mess around the house left by these animals, and the wife is very happy that her plants aren't being eaten, so much, any more. If you have problems with critters of ANY kind I highly recommend these traps. They have traps for most any animal you may want to relocate. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I remember the days in the 1970's and early 80's where Havahart was the only trap brand I would buy. But quality has gone way down hill. I still have two traps from back then where no animal or raccoon would ever escape. The last 4 I purchased are so cheaply made that they can actually arch their bodies enough to stretch the frame and get out. I had to add my own reinforcement stiff wires to the back to stop that. But the fronts of all 4 are stretched that it's a hit or miss as to if the trap will actually trap the animals. For this last purchase of Squirrel chipmunk traps the same is true. The bar that is supposed to fall and lock when the trap is sprung does not sit squarely on the top when the trap is set and thus doesn't always engage the lock slot when the trap is triggered. I will have to look to another company to purchase traps from, as Havahart is no longer the "top of the line" in traps.

The trap of choice for me!

By Peanut911

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

Since we purchased this trap, we have humanely caught two mice. It really was nice to be able to let them go instead of having to empty a dead mouse out of a snap trap (or having the trap snap while relaxing in the living room). This trap is a little tricky to set, but my husband figured it out and we put it to use right away. Peanut butter was the offering and lured them in nicely. I would like to upgrade a previous negitive review

By disappointed in Chino

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

I recently was upset with receiving an email to review a product I never received. After contacting Havahart that my package was not delivered to my home but handed off to the local post office via "SurePost" but the site did not allow a PO Box. They resent my order and it was delivered in 2 days to my home. I still need to put the live traps out but I'm very impressed with their customer service.

Perfect for small spaces.

By mikep

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

These are perfect for small places are great for tight places. The trigger mechanism is easier to set than he small 1-door traps. These will have to be used inside as I can't see chaining them down except on a light chain which would be useless. I have seen the small 1-door traps used in a documentary called Giant Rats on you-tube. I think Nature did it. I've shied away from poisons since other animals may be poisoned, too by eating the sick or dead rats. I feel like trapping for other people on an informal basis. Love Hate Relationship With This Trap

By Smilin Eyes

from United States

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

I bought two of these a couple of weeks ago. The plastic traps I had been successfully using for months, for some reason, stopped holding the mice. I still can't figure out how they are able to get out after eating their treats. The Havahart has many glowing reviews on catching even these "smart" mice. I agree, I have caught several, way more than I thought were in the house to begin with, with these traps. This is the love part of my relationship with them. The hate part is setting them so that they aren't so sensitive they go off when you move them, to they are so insensitive I have had mice waltz in, eat the goodies, and walk right out. And they are difficult to put the bait in. My hand definitely sets off the trap, and the whole process of trying to set it begins again. I have to use a pair of tongs and very gently place the bait inside. So in summary, when the stars align and the gods are with me, and all works as it should, I catch these annoying but very cute little critters and take them for a ride to release them into a new life back in nature where they belong. wonderful product, it's the buyer with the problem

By GaryA

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

I purchased the trap to catch what I thought was a racoon in my attic. Assembled the trap and set it in the attic. Checked it the next day and the bait had been partially eaten and the trap sprung, no animal. Good grief! The trap was too big so i added some screening with smaller holes. Again, I set the trap and it has been sitting there for two days without being sprung. Once bitten twice shy. Are animals that smart? Going away for a couple of weeks so i will take the trap down until I get back, then we will see. Maybe something more succulent than peanutbutter for bait will do the trick. Lets hope.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

I just bought my first trap yesterday and dropped off a very large squirrel today in a park about 5 miles away. Used one door with peanuts and peanut butter. One thing to remember is to anchor the trap to the ground on 4 corners 1st otherwise the critter just knock the trap over - I used roofing staples. Very humane and quick ! Comments about WOODSTREAM Havahart Cage Trap:

Have been pestered with possums raiding the chicken coop. After feasting on over a dozen of my good hens in less than a week, and watching the hen house at all hours to no avail, decided to try trapping. Boy was that a good decision. Trap easy to set up. First night got a BIG one. Next night got two half grown ones. Now no more dead hens. Thanks guys for a good invention. Love it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
