I've had mine for four years now, and just yesterday had my first failure--an impeller tooth was chipped by something I sucked up and now it's unbalanced. I was at the tail end of 16 bags of lawn debris, including a bunch of acorns and twigs, and again, this was after four years of use, so I'm not terribly upset. The part is available, so now I just need to find it.
The motor brushes look like they're about half-worn and do not appear to be replaceable, so it looks like I'll be replacing the unit in about four more years. Too bad, 'cause it'll probably otherwise be fine.

For the price, if you have a small lawn and few leaves to contend with (mostly blown over from a neighbors lawn!), this is the machine for you. Definitely get the leaf vac accessory and the Toro collapsible waste basket for collecting mulched leaves as the bag is very small. Had issues with changing from blower to vac, as the parts fit tightly, but that's a good thing: they wont come apart unless you WANT them too!
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Use it almost every time I mow. 5 blue spruce trees drop a lot of pine cones. Cleans out the "edger" trenches of leaves & twigs no sweat. Cleans rain gutters when I can sneak up onto the roof.

I've had none of the troubles mentioned by the other reviewers. My blower is in its 4th year of use and while I generally use my battery 'broom', I do bring out the Toro for big/heavy jobs...also for vac-ing. I sucked up a ton of acorns and leaves from our Live Oaks earlier this year...the bag works great. Easy to switch from blow to vac once you've done it a time or two. The biggest plus is the lower pitch sound of this blower...MUCH more comfortable than the 'whine' of other electrics and certainly easier on the ears than the petrol models. I just recommended this one to a neighbor. I've got a bunch of Black and Decker yard implements; but this Toro is much quieter than my Leaf Hog was.

My husband and I used this product for only 2 months before the motor died. We used it to blow and vacuum light and medium-amount leaves and grass clippings. An occasional twig (very thin) would get sucked up, and the motor would stall. It didn't happen very often, but within a few months the motor died and the whole thing didn't even start.

HAD IT FOR A YEAR AND IT DOES NOT WORK. THE MOTOR WENT OUT ON IT. I BOUGHT IT AT ACE IN TOWN WHERE I LIVE.
