Comments about COOPER TOOLS Weller® Soldering Iron (SP23L):
I have been using this iron for about 10 years...It was first used when I raced RC cars, and has since been used to add aftermarket devices to my automobile, repair car stereo lamps, speaker wire hookups around the house, and recently swapping surface mount LEDs on my new cell phone.
While some situations call for higher heat or larger tips, I've found that the SP23 is sufficient for smaller tasks such as those mentioned above...if you goof up or make a wrong move, it won't usually melt everything in its path like higher temperature irons might.
I am also very impressed that mine has lasted this long. Granted, I don't use it every month of the year, and there is some corrosion along the shaft of the iron, it still performs well when the pricey tips are replaced.
