Someone else said bugs just bounce off. They do in fact bounce off if they are any bigger than a mosquito. And on top of that, even when bugs, like very small moths, get zapped, and caught in the mesh, THEY ARE NOT DEAD!!! I know because I have a pet that eats bugs, especially moths. So I figured I could zap some for it. And put them in a container after knocking them out of the mesh on this zapper. Well, virtually all of them come back to life, and are flying around again, within 30 seconds!! What a joke!! I guess some other zapper owners just assume the bugs are truly dead, because they do not watch the bugs afterwards to see what happens.

I first got one of these 'racquet' type swatters for my mom, she truly hates to see any fly live but she goes thru swatters like the proverbial stuff thru the goose... This one held up even under her whacking away with it... Myself, I love these things.... I love hearing that satisfying little sizzlin' pop! when the little bug hits the screen... Yeah! The only thing I would add is to not let little kids play with it but even for a kid, the shock is very VERY mild, more startling than anything else, after all, you are not going to get much zap out of 2 AA batteries. More than enough for the bugs, tho! And a pair of batteries lasts along long time, too.
Go get a couple.... they're definitely worth while.

This thing kils flying bugs except those so small they go right thrugh the mesh (gnats maybe) or those so big they can take it away from you. I first saw one at a park in northern Canada where the mosqitos were about to carry us away. The park owners came out with wne and cleared the bugs off in moments. Had to have one,
