Just a bit of info if you think the product may have been faulty.... My sister said that the rodents feet have to be moist to cause the shock. Depending on the weather this could be the problem. She had to make a little wet door mat for the rodents to walk thru into the zapper. She learned this from Customer Service so its not a joke. The wetter the better! It has never failed her since!

It was very difficult to get the batteries in. Be sure switch is in OFF position as you wrestle the batteries in or you may shock yourself. I also added pieces of tape to indicate ON and OFF because it wasn't clear by the switch label.
Once you jam the batteries in and figure out the switch, it works great and is very easy to use.
BUT, after a few uses -- and a few kills -- it shorted out. I turned it on, and it "surged" as though a rat was in the trap and shut itself off. Trap was clean and dry; don't know why it would have shorted. Batteries were good, nothing in trap, but each time I turned it on, it turned itself off. Had to throw it out.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Victor® Electronic Rat Trap:
This continually sat outside with rodent droppings and missing food on the back porch. Replacing the batteries was not effective either. I followed directions, the system gave a green light to state it worked and power was on but simply was a free meal to invite more pests. An expensive unworthwhile product.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Victor® Electronic Rat Trap:
I've killed 4 rats so far. Just bait with peanut butter or cheese and switch on. It is great not to have to handle the rat. Its humane; rat dies fast. I just dump it in the trash, reset, and its ready to get the next one. Great product.

this was really good,i caught two mice like the poster below then it shorted out, changed the batteries and no dice. so i bought a new one and i hope this works better. i had mine in the washroom for a while so i think maybe the heat may have had something to do with it.but still good,no mess,no screams, just toss on a glove pick up the box and dump it.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Victor® Electronic Rat Trap:
The instructions are for indoor use. I believe the trap would short out if it got wet, but our problem was outside in the yard so we put it under the overhang on days and nights when no rain is forcast. The first two weeks we got five kills in the front of the house and then moved it to the back yard and we get an average of one every other day. We are going to purchase another trap so we can have one in front and one in back. When you use poisen you don't know if you have a kill poisen is not safe around the dog and birds. With this product, there is no problem. We use peanut butter to bait as directed.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Victor® Electronic Rat Trap:
Caught two rats in the first few days then the trap broke and became a feeding box for rats..they'd eat the bait but the trap never zapped 'em. Changed the batteries, same result. Expensive trap that short circuited.

Comments about WOODSTREAM Victor® Electronic Rat Trap:
Just set it out with Dry Dog food in it instead of peanut butter as they suggest. The peanut butter didn't work for us, but the dog food worked like a charm! Rodents BEWARE!
