Comments about UNIFLAME Fatwood Fire Starter (201274):
You can smell the fresh pine scent when you open the bag. The kindling sized sticks (typically about 1/2" x 8") light very easily; I lit one stick by holding a kitchen match to the end of it for about 5 seconds. Resin permeates the "lighter pine" ensuring the flame moves fairly quickly to ignite the entire stick, so I'm quite confident that one stick is sufficient to light one of the manufactured (sawdust & petroleum) "Fire Logs" or even a very dry, well-seasoned hardwood. I've used slivvers from less than a quarter stick to take spark from a fire steel to light a tinder bundle for a quick campfire. I've brought the same raw materials in from the field in the form of a pine stump torn from the ground. But these Fatwood sticks are already processed, economical, and so easy to use that I won't do that again unless I just need it for training purposes. I plan to keep several sticks in my Bug Out Bag. Anyone who uses a wood stove, fireplace, outdoor grill, or builds campfires should try these - you won't be disappointed.

Great with a fireplace. I use 2 - 3 sticks per fire. I buy the 4lb. bag every fall, lasts all winter. Starts even damp logs. No need to mess with newspaper. Burns cleanly and starts fire well.

Comments about UNIFLAME Fatwood Fire Starter (201274):
Works wonders for me. Very, very low cost. I use two or three sticks to start a fire on my grill, both with firewood or charcoal. It produces quite a bit of smoke, but it's a natural beautiful tree-sap aroma.
Comments about UNIFLAME Fatwood Fire Starter (201274):
These Fatwood Firestarter sticks worked great to start hardwood fires. I still put a couple pieces of crumpled up paper under these to get them lit but they stay lit long enough to get the other hardwood kindling going. The 4 lb. bag ([$] at my local ACE) came with approx. 56 firestarter sticks and if you use two sticks per fire, its about .25 per fire. Great Value!

Comments about UNIFLAME Fatwood Fire Starter (201274):
This is better than those so called "fire starter" logs - if you read the fine print on those, you are not supposed to add other wood to the log?!?
These however, are just natural wood taken from the center of the pine tree and burn quickly (but not too quick) and steadily giving your actual wood a chance to catch and burn. (paper and pine needles give off smoke these are clean burning) Even a novice like myself was able to start a fire with these sticks!
