This is awesome, and works just like it says it does. I almost bought a new tree today, but thought I could make do one more year using the old tree with a few strands of lights where the burned out ones were. This even works in more than one way! If the lights don't come on after one way, you just try the next. It will test the replacement bulb to be sure it works, too. If they still have them, I will buy several as gifts.

Almost bought a new Christmas tree today, but they were so expensive I thought I could get another year out of the old one if I put new lights on the burned out section. Then, I found this light tester! It's great. It has more than one way to find the problem. If the first doesn't work, try the next. It will pinpoint the problem bulb. The tool will check your new bulb to make sure it works, too. I will try to buy more for others for Christmas before they are gone.

Very easy to use. Plug in a string of lights and pull the trigger 20x. This will "unclog" whatever was holding up the current surge. If this does not fix it you then use the button on the top of the gun and follow the string of lights from the plug to the end. You will hear the beeping indicating the currewnt surge is fine. Once the beeping stops you have found the bad bulb. Very fast and easy. Even comes with a bulb puller built into the gun.
