Comments about RUTLAND Safe Lite® Fire Starter (50B):
To test waterproofness, I soaked a starter in water for 1 hour; it lit immediately and burned completely. Great alternative to charcoal fluid or matchlight, yech. Lay out 2-3 Rutland starters as shown on the box. Ignite starters. Using tongs, pile charcoal in a narrow high pyramid over the starter flames. When the starter flames die down in 8-10 minutes, charcoal will be lit and start to ash. I use the starters for the wood/coal stove in the house, too. A single starter can be shredded or broken into smaller pieces. 1/4 a starter and some twigs can get a roaring campfire going. The starter burns for 8-10 minutes, long enough to dry and ignite even wet tinder; I've started several fires in the rain with a Rutland and wet twigs. The blocks of squares conveniently fit in zipper top plastic bags. 18 starters fit perfect in a sandwich-sized ziplock. I have packages of starters stashed in the car emergency kit, in my 3-day emergency bag, in the charcoal pails, and in my Volcano stove bag. Maybe heavy for ultralight backpacking. Over years of regular use, they are easy and safe to use, clean burning, and have been utterly reliable. Great product, please continue to carry these!

Comments about RUTLAND Safe Lite® Fire Starter (50B):
It's the safest, most dependable product of it's kind. Small and light, a couple squares would be a good addition to one's backpack when hiking outback. I am so impressed and pleased, that I would guess that Rutland will now go out of business. That's the way things always seem to work....

Comments about RUTLAND Safe Lite® Fire Starter (50B):
The Rutland Fire Starters are the BEST fire starters I have
EVER used. You touch a match or lighter to it and it lites instantly, you don't have to squat there and wait for the thing to start. My daughter went camping and I sent some along with her, it rained and they still started as easy. I have used everything over the last 35 years to start a fire in my fireplace and these fire starters are the BEST thing I have ever used,PERIOD!! And I'm not getting compensated to say this!

Comments about RUTLAND Safe Lite® Fire Starter (50B):
Each segment, (if you are 'frugal' like myself, will enable you to start many small fires), "not just 144 fires"! I break each segment into about 4 pieces, so actually I get approx. 550 + stove start-ups out of a large box! Makes it very economical to use!
Comments about RUTLAND Safe Lite® Fire Starter (50B):
We use only one square to light our fireplace (daily from fall to spring) and our shop wood stove. Bought during a store close-out sale hoping that they would work. To our surprise, we found that this is the best product that we have ever tried. Fast, simple, clean, and priced right. We ran out of them recently, but was very happy to find that our local Ace Hardware could order them for us. We can't say enough about how great they are.
Comments about RUTLAND Safe Lite® Fire Starter (50B):
These fire starters are the only thing that would light my wood stove with the high winds that we get. They refused to go out once they were lit and started a great fire every time!
