This new unit from Bosch has the same specs and dimensions as the original unit it is replacing made by Controlled Energy Corp which we purchased almost 12 years ago. After reviewing other similar products, we decided to go with basically the same unit. The old unit failed only because it was installed in a garage and experienced a short cold spell that cracked the flow switch. Follow the recommended 8 gauge electrical wiring and plumbing requirements and this unit will last a long time. Install shut off valves at both the input and output. We only have cold water running to the unit and adjust the temperature for the shower by regulating the flow coming out of the unit. This is perfect for an outdoor shower at our cottage as we have a holding tank that doesn't need extra gray water.

I've had three fail on me so far. First one (masterbath) did not shut off and hot water turned to steam and burst the pex tubing. I replaced it with an extra I had for a future bathroom. Second one (kitchen) started to leak so I purchased a new one (redesigned) and installed it about 9-10 months ago. It did the same thing the first one did and broke a SS braided hose. Hours of cleaning water. I'm lucky I can run a hot water line to the kitchen and remove that junk. I can't do that in my master bathroom...I'm screwed!
I ran hot water lines for a bathroom remodel instead of using this again.

I thought this would be reasonable to wire but was suprised at the need for #8 guage wire that would cost $100 just for the 50 ft of wire needed. I did not do my homework to find out what was needed and that this was a high wattage unit requiring a 40 Amp circuit. Lower wattage units are available
