Comments about Kaytee 1.7 Lbs. Gold Coil Tube Finch Feeder (100503813):
We had two of these feeders, but unfortunately, the sun eventually takes its toll on the plastic and we need to replace them. We like this one for several reasons. It can allow up to 20 finches at one time with 10 feeding stations and two feeding slots per station. The spiral perch allows many finches to be on the feeder at once. Most other models we saw only allowed about six finches. Many of the other models we saw seemed to have nothing more than a hole in the side for the finch to feed through. This one has feeding stations that are slightly recessed. While I haven't tested all models, this feature seems like it will help keep water out of the tube when it rains. We have had some heavy rains this winter and the seed in this model has remained mostly dry, even though we have the feeder hanging in the yard where it is not protected from the rain. The only real downside is that it is a bit difficult to clean. The bottom comes off easily and I can then run a spray of water through the tube and get most of the "crud". However, some seed still wants to stay stuck in crevices around the feeding stations. Using a section of 1/4 inch dowel to reach into the tube helps to loosen it. Overall, though, we think it is the best one we have seen. Also, its cost is much more reasonable than many.
