First off, I'm an electrical contractor who does his own work, meaning I'm on the job till its done.
I use this radio on every job that allows, and it has worked flawlessly. I really enjoy the compartment that houses the batteries. It allows my phone to be protected while on the job, which is a big plus if I'm listening to music or podcasts.
The design allows the radio to be knocked over and still have all the important mechanical parts to be protected which is very helpful on any job where other workers may not show the same tenderness to your "tools" as you would.
I have one really big gripe concerning the radio though. It would be very helpful to have a charger built in so that you can charge your battery as you are enjoying some tunes. I would be essentially killing two birds with one stone as it were.
Also, it would be a plus if there were exterior 120v outlets, preferably GFCI's, since many jobsites would require them (especially locations where ground fault protection is needed).
Finally, the cherry on the top would be a remote control that would allow the user to operate the radio at a distance. The less time I spend walking back and forth to the radio, and fiddling with the controls, is more time a can devote to the job, allowing me to get home quicker (which means more time with my family).
I sincerely believe that these extras would push Milwaukee's Jobsite radio over the top, and there's nothing like being the guy whose radio is better than the "other" guys brand.

This was an outstanding radio for the first year and a half. I decided to purchase this after a good amount of research and trust in Milwaukee products. Guess that didnt work out in the long run. The radio worked great for days at the beach, or on the various jobsites. The bottle opener was a selling point to many friends. But about 3 months ago the unit stopped powering up. Neither a battery nor plug work. It worked fine the day before, while being used indoors. It's frustrating that the warranty from everything i've seen is only a year on them. In the end I just want the radio back up and running, and not repair costs.

    How strange

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee M18 Jobsite Radio (2790-20):

When I saw the size of it the fact that it has six handles none much good for one handed carrying the ac lead does not detach store away so tends to hang off the back I thought I had bought a lemon but then I put in one of my m18 battery's that last for days and the sound quality is fantastic and you sort of forgive it's short comings It would be great if it was smaller decent handle and a ac lead that stored better they would certainly be points I would have addressed before fitting a bottle opener lol

I bought this radio to take camping. my buddy at work has one and it sounded good. got it on june 30 2014 didnt use it till my trip on july 10 2014. Got back on the 13 of july and put it away in the house. i was going to use it to put wood in the shed today and it wouldnt work plugged in or with a battery. tried fm/am/aux and nothing worked. For the money it costs three campfires of use camping isnt enough. Dont think i'll buy again.

I bought one of these in my first few months when I got this job almost a year and a half ago. I work at a CNC Machining company so it can get very loud in there at anytime. Every day it has played and charged my phone at almost its max volume for 8-12 hours a day and I have NEVER had a single problem with it. With all the abuse it had gone through from being dropped several times, metal shavings, small amounts of water(mostly rain), and all day use in the garage and outdoors. I absolutely love this and I have actually bought three of them since my first one, the other two being gifts. There are only two things that I did not like about it and one of them is that it cannot charge the battery pack while it is plugged in so you have to buy a charger for them as well and that there is no remote.

Also we bought this item because we thought it had a charger Included like all the other brands but no it does not charge the battery. Dissapointed

I really like the radio it sounds great and has really good reception. The only down side is that it doesn't charge your batteries while it is plugged in so that you don't have to have it and a charger plugged in. I know the dewalt and some of the other brands are able to do this so I would hope you add this to your future radios.

This radio is a great partner to have when going to the ballpark. We play year round here, and at times it rains like cat and dogs. I like rolling my cart into the beer gardens ready to party, yes that's right I said party. Understandibly this unit doesn't charge, but then if interferrence was the issue I'm glad they didn't included it. I can't wait for the new radio.

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee M18 Jobsite Radio (2790-20):

The tone control and power make it useful for both radio and music player use.
I also like talk radio when I work so the tone controls and power allow adjustment for clear voice listening over site noise. The radio is missing the 12 V pug as advertised on the Web site and Specs. The instructions do not elaborate on use of the USB port?
A charge feature for the batteries in the bay or 120 V outlet would be good but not a show stopper when the sound and quality of the construction is so good.
It is a great addition to my collection of Milwaukee cordless tools.

I debated and read reviews for months before making this purchase. A/C, 12v, rechargeable batteries from your other tools, and the Price point is right along with features. I use Bose and expect quality in craftsmanship, durability and finish. I'm very pleased!! Thank you.

Plugged in my IPOD to a playlist and it worked awesome for 10 MIN!! Then the sound disappeared. I thought it was my IPOD unplugged it then turned to the Radio FM & AM. Still no sound. I hope you make up for this by getting this fixed or I might go back to Dewalt for permanent.

I didn't research enough I guess. I was told by the guys, Fasteners Inc. that it would charge my phone while running on batteries. Not true. I've been looking into making something to run a cell phone charger off the m12 battry itself but that's just more work. And Millwaukee says something to the effect that adding a phone charger will compromise the sound quality. I dought that. Both bosch and DeWalt charge that way with no issues. And when on ac it doesn't cause any problems. But I hate to switch all my tools over to another brand just because of that. Anyway I like thier tools.

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee M18 Jobsite Radio (2790-20):

I was given this as a gift and was very excited to get a Milwaukee charger/radio for all of my other Milwaukee power tools. Charger? Did I say "charger/radio"? I was very surprised and disappointed to find this radio does not contain a charger. Just doesn't make sense. One other thing doesn't make sense either: a water proof compartment in the top of the radio to store your phone and batteries but the radio is not water-proof?!?! Huh?

Otherwise, easy to use, sturdy built, and has a good sound. Hope it holds up as have seen a few other reviews where there are complaints of it dying.

I have heard another manufacturer has a patent on a radio/charger combo and it's not Milwaukee's fault they are putting out a radio only. I'd like to hear more about this topic.

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee M18 Jobsite Radio (2790-20):

I work in an insanely busy welding shop, making Crossfit equipment. I bought this radio because the one I was using was maxed out, and still barely loud enough. Took be a bit to get it all figured out, but once I did I was pretty impressed. I put my MP3 player on shuffle, and locked it in the top weather proof compartment. Plugging the radio into my welder and setting it on my table, I got to work.

At half volume, not only did it overpower the entire welding shop, it was also easy to hear through my ear plugs and didn't distort a bit. I had purchased a two year replacement plan with it, but after several full shifts of welding and grinding two feet away from it, I was beginning to wonder if I'd ever use it.

This radio runs 20 hours a day - ten during the day for my shift, and ten at night while my brother uses it. It doesn't fade, wink out, or show any signs that it's being overworked. It just keeps pumping out the tunes until the work day is done.

Ever since I was a kid, I remember Milwaukee tools being in the house, and my dad always swore by them. Now that I'm out in the world and making a living for myself, I understand why. Proud to carry on the tradition of depending on Milwaukee to see me through the workday.

To all those out there crying for a built in charger, What they wont tell you and i will is that Dewalt submitted a patant for radio with charger and that is why no other battery radio can have a charger in them. You could add the circuit yourself.
I miss the 12volt outlet, i use my xm radio and need the power for the unit. with it I get remote control. so sweet. I am trying to figure a way to use the usb outlet to power my xm. More later.
And for now it does not sound as good as the previous model

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee M18 Jobsite Radio (2790-20):

I am a General contractor and love listen to music. I used to have a DeWALT radio that worked very well when I would use it on all my jobs and outdoor events. When it eventually broke i decided to get this Milwaukee radio because most of my tools are also Milwaukee and This radio blows my old one away granted it is a lot newer and has many more features. The sound is amazing with these speakers and the built in equalizer lets you make the bass really heavy or none at all and it does get really deep bass with it all the way up. There are a few things I would change though such as I wish the volume control was a nob you can turn instead of the buttons. Also I wish that the bottom had some rubber pads or something because the bottom of mine is getting really scratched up. These aren't deal breakers but things I wish it just had. Some things that would be an added bonus to include in future models would be 1 or 2 120V outlets somewhere on it and also if it where to charge the Milwaukee batteries would be awesome but I have a few chargers anyways so I don't mind that it currently doesn't. GOOD JOB MILWAUKEE!!! Keep up the good work.

had this item for nearly 2 years the sound was good and the bottle opener was a nice touch, although i went to use it fishing the other day when the buttons stopped working, possible due to a light shower, it must be the display pcb, looked around for parts and it seems you do not sell that part.... dang

Awesome sound. I love the water proof compartment and 12 volt outlet. I just wish it was a battery charger also.

Bought this today for my garage after looking at several others. When i got home i was stunned at the ease of operation and sound. Good job! Would buy again . Highly recommend.
