I work at an ACE Hardware store and this is the product we use. I like it, the only cons is that it was heavy and really loud. Otherwise I praise it on its great job on cleaning up dirt on rugs.

Our home vacuum wore out so I consulted consumer reports that listed it as a great* buy. It worked so well we purchased a second for our cottage. It made our carpets look and feel better. It really is a great* buy! Both were from Ace and the second was preassembled. Which as I recall is easy but it's really nice to have it ready to use.

*had to use great instead of best because it is part of a store name..what a world!

I wish I didn't waste the money, but it's all I could afford at the time. The hose is too short, so I can't get under the furntiure completely or get the edges around the ceiling. The vacuum sucks up the carpet but doesn't lift the dirt or pet hair. I've always been a proud owner of Hoovers. Maybe I got a lemon.

You can pay two or three times as much for a vacuumbut it wont do any better job than this beauty from Hoover. Sure it's heavy and has a short power cord but as far as weight goes it is not much heavier than top costly brands. I paid to have a vacuum that would clean my rug and do an excellent job and I found it in this Hoover Tempo. Don't let the price fool you this is a sturdy vacuum cleaner that will impress you at first use.

We were looking for an inexpensive back up to our regular vacume cleaner which is in need of servicing. It's serving that purpose. I trust Hoover brand, and this was their least expensive model. For the money, it can't be beat.
All of the attachments are easy to get to, and there's plenty of suction. Are there better vacumes out there? Of course, but at a much higher price.
This would be great for a college student, away from home, who needs to clean their appartment. In fact, we bought one for our son for just that purpose!!!!!

sick of bagless, smelly cups, constant filter washings and dust leaks; back to bagged vacuum. Power sucker; if you set on bare floor setting it drags you behind. Trick for changing settings; push handle forward a bit and you can slide adjuster with a toe. Well worth the price, who needs more, if you do hire a maid.

Suction power is really great, it will pull the vacuum on its own! Very smooth handling. Attachements are easy to use. Bag fits snug, but easy to change. Weight is a 6 out 10 (10 = heaviest). Noise is a 5 of 10 (10 = loudest). Floor height range is good.

I have had this vac for a few years and I love it! I did a ton of research and Consumer Reports gave it a really good rating and good buy, so I found in on ACE for the best price. Living in the desert with two constant-shedding dogs, and a dirty construction worker for a spouse, this thing keeps my carpets feel and look clean. I have allergies and it doesn't blow the dust around while in use, unlike some bagless vacuum's I've owned.

For those who complain about the short cord: it is a function of the National Electric Code: the length of the cord is limited by the amps and wire gage, i.e., the longer the cord the less amps you are allowed to draw or the heavier the cord must be. So, don't use an extension cord with this vac. I can think of nothing that interests me less than a vacuum cleaner, but this one is so good I can't resist it and for the least amount of maney!! There are no bells and whistles on this vac but I wasn't looking for bells and whistles; just an upright that did the job. I would easily have paid more for this vacuum. Thanks Hoover. oK, let me start by saying I have 5 children under the age of six and 2 dogs. Yes, I vacuum every day, sometimes twice a day. Not to mention I have a 3600 square foot house that is split in 4 levels. I have gone through 8 vacuums in the past 5 months. I have exchanged each and every one because they were either terrible or ok for a while until they lost suction. I decided to go with a bagged model again, and I picked up the Hoover Tempo. OH MY GOODNESS! I cannot believe the amazing power of this machine. For [$]? Are you kidding me? And guess what? It has maintained incredible suction for 3 months so far. That is longer than any vacuum I have had. The hose has monstrous suction power, and so does the vacuum itself. I can't believe how good this picks up dog hair, dust, lint, and even the occasional popcorn kernel. Man, this is the best vacuum every. I had to write a review, and I waited for 3 months just so I could be sure it kept up with it's magic. Great deal!

I would definitely recommend this vacuum to anyone needing one. I picked mine up on 12/5 -- and my carpet is much cleaner than with my old 'more expensive' vacuum. I was really pleased with the suction from the hose and how easy it was to vacuum near the walls and the steps. GREAT BUY -- and they must've made the cord longer. NO COMPLAINTS. EXCELLENT CHOICE!

I bought this vacuum 5 years ago at a local store. It is used several times a day in a large house filled with cats, dogs and parrots. The Hoover does the job. One of my children accidently ruined the cord and I have been searching all over for a replacement . [...]I am thinking of buying two so I have one for the future just in case! I had to replace my old $29.00 vacuum after 5 years, I was looking for a bagged style real similar to my old friend. The Tempo was the closest I found. I bought it based on looks ( I know shallow) and that it was cheap. Wow! Was I impressed... It has amazing suction and acts likes it is a self propelled model. It just takes off!

After seeing the one bad review here, I had to tell my good experience. This vacuum is amazing! It does better than our old similar style one, by another brand that just died, ever did. I don't even need any static guard to get more cat hairs from up off our rug now; in fact I don't think rugs been this clean since before we had cats! The general good reviews are right. I think it is perfect for people who don't want to/cannot spend a lot on a vacuum but still want something that does a good job (even on cat hair). I think the noise was average, and it's slightly heavy but it basically propells itself and has great suction. For the price, you couldn't ask for more. I bought the last one at our local [...] and the store associate (who even carried it out to the car for me) told me it must be a good vacuum because they sell a ton. I see why.

Bag is difficult to replace. Hose clogs easily with pet hair. Pet hair is very difficult to vacuum up. Power cord placement is ackward. I am going to replace my Hoover with another brand.
