I just purchased a Toro 38360 Electric Power Shovel Plus today and I was very impressed with how well it performs. As many of you know, we just got hammered with some pretty heavy snowfall this weekend in the Chicagoland area. If you are a city dweller or suburbanite that needs to clear walkways, sidewalks, and patios....this is the machine for you. It easily throws snow 15' or more. I found that using a technique like you were using a vaccum cleaner on carpet tends to work the best. Now on the flip side...if you intend on doing a driveway...keep your shovel...or ante up and buy a real snowblower. The path of the machine is only 12" and it would take alot of your time using this.

We purchased the electric power shovel for use on cement porch steps. After two snowfalls, we took it back because it did not live up to the "promo". You must push it forward, snow moves forward also, you are just "pushing more snow". It should have the ability to blow the snow away from your work. The plastic frame, after using it two times is showing excessive "wear". The box or salesman did not say that this is recommended for "outdoor" carpeted steps only. That it isn't made for cement. I suppose it would also be useable on wood steps. We were very disappointed.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
No picture to show orientation... hardware store had handle assembled backwards. Once figured out properly, worked as designed. Throws snow forward only, so if you are unable to shovel downwind, you will get a lot back in your face. This product will elimnate the lifting of a heavy wet shovel-full of snow, which is what leads to a lot of heart attacks, but you must still push the Power Shovel into the snow. This will be a lot of work on 8 inch snowfall, advancing about 3 feet at a time. Less snow, more easily shoveled. Need several lengths of power cord to do long sidewalks.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
Snowblowers are heavy, and sometimes to much power for ladies or elderly folks. I found this to be just like vacuuming. It's a breeze to use and it is much more powerful than I expected. No gas, no oil, NO MESS. Clue....don't throw snow "into" the wind. Start on the other side so your back is to the wind.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
I wasn't sure I would like this electric power shovel; however, it was a lot more powerful than I originally thought. I felt it was a cross between a shovel and a vacuum. My back hurt after using it, but I think that is because I kept lifting it to change directions (it's not heavy, but I am only 5' tall). I think the optimal way of removing driveway snow would be to go in a zig-zag pattern (never lifting the Toro) till you reach the sidewalk. I've only used it once, but look forward to trying it again. Made snow removal much faster compared to using a shovel.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
Good for doing my driveway and sidewalk. I haven't tried using the electric shovel on the yard or deck. I like the toro elect. Easy to use, no hassle, no oil changes or gas, I would say to other customers it's a good buy.I don't have to bring my snow plow out of the shed now. I saw this product being used in my neighborhood, liked it.I was amazed so I said what am I doing with this plow in my hands, " hoofs" JW. 1/30/12

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
The product was very satisfactory although my experience with purchasing this item was less than satisfactory. The only one that was available was the display model which they said did not have any instructions with it. I told them that I was buying this for my mother to use and I couldn't believe that an item of this type would have no instructions. The salesperson laughed and told me that it was simple to use and didn't need instructions. I insisted that they get instructions or I wouldn't buy it. Someone finally printed the instructions from the computer.
When I purchased the item, I was told that it was not returnable. The entire experience was awful and I will probably stay away from this particular store in the future.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
This Toro has performed exactly as expected. This year as we all know has been more snowy than in recent years and with the Toro there has been less anxiety about getting out of the house since most of us don't get to sit out these storms. I haven't noticed any tiredness from holding the kill button and like it for that reason. Snow in my face isn't an issue either especially if you're working while it's still snowing. I would recommend this to anyone.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
Bought this power shovel to clear small areas and light snow falls, it preforms well and does what I wanted it to do.
It's was easy to adjust for my size and grip and is simple to operate, I would buy it again and recomend it to others.
Could use a snow direction lever and more power, but these additions would not be worth the added weight and cost, works well as is.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
there was no way to direct the snow being thrown, so it kept coming back in my face, no matter what direction I walked in.
I also found the extension cord (doesn't come with it) kept getting in the way.
It was just easier to shovel the old fashion way.
I did end up returning the item.

My wife bought this for a Christmas present this year to help alleviate shoveling our deck that has a sunk in hot tub. With the amount of snow we receive yearly, a hand shovel just doesn't cut it. This snow thrower has saved my back ache and time.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
I bought this in late November 2010 and used it twice to clean off walkway and driveway while my gas snow blower was being repaired.
During the second use, the augar blades were worn down to the point that they failed to work. What a disappointment! Ace people told me essentially, "tough agates" . Not suppose to use on driveways. Funny, I have an electrical Toro 12 inch wide snow blower that I have used for years on the same driveway and walk, without a problem. I would not/will not recommend this product to friends or anyone else.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
Use as a shovel and a snow blower. The best way to describe it as a friend once said - a snow blower on a stick!!
It's rather light weight - It doesn't use much "elbow grease", and it gets the job done fast!
The one thing that is not so great is that you do have to hold the button down while it's in use.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
Bought this for my wife because she thought it would be handy for her to use when I wasn't home to run the snow blower or shovel. We're both disappointed in this purchase. It's not easy to use when you're fighting with the cord & trying to not have the wind blow snow back in your face. It also becomes tiring to use after a while, it's not that light compared to a shovel. The only good use we found was for clearing snow off our deck. This will be for sale at our next garage sale.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
We got this thrower to use on Cape Cod where it is normal to get rain when Boston gets snow. When it dose snow it is normal to get a few inches that needs to be plowed or shoved. It seems to work well on a few inches of snow but it wouldn't help if you have feet to plow out. Also it only has one speed and one direction to throw the snow. Overall it should work well for our smaller than avg driveway, deck and walk and the money saved over a bigger thrower can be used to hire someone when it gets really deep.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
I picked up one of these at a yard sale and used it for the first time on a three inch snow. It cleaned up the walk in no time with little effort. It kicks the snow about 10 feet but has no directional control so it throws everything forward, which can be a problem if you're working your way toward something, like the front door. It is more-or-less a weed whip morphed into a snow thrower and it has its limits, but if the objective is keeping the walks clear of a few inches of snow, this is the right tool. P.S. I've had my Toro weed whip for more than 20 years. These days it loses a few more bits of the plastic shroud each season, but the motor just won't quit.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
I have a fairly large driveway and we got 8"+ of a wet, heavy snow. It took almost 2 hours to shovel half the driveway. My back couldn't take it anymore so I bought the power shovel. To complete the other half of the driveway took about 35 minutes. Since then we got about 3" of a light snow and it took about 20 minutes to do the ENTIRE driveway. The only problem is the snow only shoots forward, so you have to pay attention to the wind. But other than that this is a wonderful machine. If you have back problems, this machine is a must!!

My sister and I bought the Toro Power Shovel for my mom for Christmas 2009. She lives alone and has a steep driveway. We just tested the Toro on our own driveway and it works amazingly. I am a small women and could handle the Toro easily. A driveway/walk that normally takes us 30 min. to clear took about 10 min. for me to clear. A great buy for the $$.

Comments about Toro® Lightweight Electric Power Shovel (38361):
We had our first good snowstorm of the year here in SD. I just moved here this year and all I have for snow removal is a weensy teensy snow shovel. So 6+" of snow fell yesterday and I set out to shovel myself out.
Didn't last long and I headed over to Ace to get me a Toro snow shovel. It might be mini but it is mighty! RIght out of the box it was ready to go, I used the same power cord as I use with my weed whacker.
This little power shovel is SERIOUS! It handled the light snow and even chipped away powerfully at the larger snow drifts. It had a bit of a hard time with the packed snow from the passing snow plow on the street but it was excellent!
One con is that you have to work with the wind or you get a faceful of cold flurries, brrr!
This is awesome. The product is recommended for patios and such, but I did my driveway as well and it was just purring away!

I have had mine since 1991. When you look at this you will think it couldn't possibly work. Let me say that the only drawback to this is that you need an extension cord. I bought mine to clear off my deck. It does much more than that and stores easier than a traditional snow-thrower. If you are currently using a shovel, this will save your back. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this tool.
