Just bought this mower at the local Ace here.

I have a small yard but thick grass. Hence why I chose the push unit. I am amazed how easy this mower is maneuver and power. It revs high and stays there even in the thickest part of my lawn. Really kicks out the grass clippings out the side shoot.

Really like the fact it has no primer bulb on it. Just pull down the handle, give the chord a tug and off you go.

Another characteristic I love is how easy it is to start. One tug on the chord....that's it.

I live on a corner lot on a busy street so unfortunately finding peoples junk in my yard is common place. Because of this, I stopped several times on purpose to pick up the trash, just so I could restart the mower when it's hot. Fired up first pull every time.

I'm 6'2" and the handlebars come up just barely to my chest. I'm comfortable working with it. I'm anxious to try out the deck wash feature as well.

All in all, this one is definetly a keeper. This is my second Craftsman mower with the same power rating as my old one. 15 year old Craftsman with a Tecumseh engine. Hopefully this one will last just as long.

In hindsight, i made a big mistake going for price over quality...

First time I used this mower, three of the 4 plastic wheel covers fell off, and its been steadily downhill from there.

Nothing stays tight on this mower - handles come loose with every use and have to be tightened. Height adjustment settings for the wheels don't hold. Engine is running rough after half a season of use on a very small lawn.

The grass catching bag is, IMO, a very poor design....nothing to support it except for the flow of air and clippings from the cutting deck. Learned a very expensive lesson about not pulling the mower backwards....the front of the bag dragged along the ground, caught the blade, and I was out a bunch of money for a new grass bag.

In hindsight, I should have spent another $200 for a Honda.

I'm donating this mower to Goodwill and will replace it with the Honda lawn mower I should have bought to begin with.

Comments about Craftsman 6.75 Torque Rear Bag Push Mower (71-38031):

Large(163 cc engine). Not the average 125 or 140 cc. This mower really does start the first time every time. Our backyard is very large with high grass due to our monsoon PM rains. On the days it don't rain Then i can cut the high grass with damp ground and this mower plows right through. When i'am done w/mower the gas tank needs refilled for next usage. If needed this mower is self cleaning under the mower by using the attachment on top with a garden hose, and this setup will let you clean the bottom with the mower running for 1 or 2 minutes at the most.-Easy to assemble right out of the box.Take's about 30 minutes & then add the packet of oil included. You'll need to have a gas container and regular 87 octane gasoline and your ready to cut your grass. The 6.75 Torque will give you the extra power needed to cut right through the higher grass as compared to the less powerful 140 cc with a Torque of 5.5. In short,A good powerful and reliable push mower.The(71-38031)number with be on box,So you can be sure you have the right Lawn Mower.

This mower can handle tall, TOUGH prairie grasses. Cut through ground cover over 24 inches high with no problems - no choking, clogging or sputtering. The discharge action is excellent. Easy start - 1 pull - plus the handy wash out attachment is nice.

I never write feedback comments but I need to tell you how much I love this lawnmower. I'm a single gal, afraid of new things, but this mower is so easy to set up and start using right away. It's lighter and more easily maneuverable than my old push mower and it really is as easy as set the handles, add provided oil, add high octane gas, set the wheel level, and pull start. That's it. The only real challenge was to ensure the handle is set to its highest level and tighten with a 9/16 ratchet socket. That was the "hardest' part. I was apprehensive at first, now I'm laughing at myself about how easy it really was to get it going. Great product.

Comments about Craftsman 6.75 Torque Rear Bag Push Mower (71-38031):

My riding mowing, only two years old, is in the shop already. The push mower I trim with, which I bought at a rummage sale, still runs great but isn't particularly up to the task of mowing 1.5 acres (i.e the rusted muffler fell off, it has a hard time in the high grass, etc.). After research, I bought this Craftsman 6.75 Torque at Ace on sale! I didn't want a self-propelled model (just something extra to break on the mower), and I certainly wanted a Briggs engine (my rider has one of these Chinese engines, which is probably why it's in the shop - from now on I'm only buying Briggs and Stratton), and this seemed the most powerful non-self propelled mower out there for the price...This thing cuts low through high grass/light debris like nothing, and starts on one pull. The documentation also says this engine does not need an oil change, just a top off if it gets low. I'd read Briggs has this type engine - it's new - and I guess this is one. I look forward to using this many years...and I don't know that I miss the rider - if I do it split over a few nights, it's not as hard as I thought to push mow the entire yard....

It's hard to find a push mower with the 163 cc engine that is not self propelled. I also am not a fan of the large back wheels. This mower has the larger engine and regular wheels front and back. Brought it home, put the handle in position cut my lawn. Very happy with this purchase.

This is why I shop ACE. Bought Craftsman mower online. Free ship to my local ACE (Debos, Peru, IL). They assembled, put the oil in, some gas and made sure in working order before I am called for pickup. Crazy good customer service. Makes me smile every time I start it—one pull baby! This is my second Craftsman mower, won't by anything else.

Buying on line through ACE.COM Cust Service and communication with store poor - Better to get directly from store with same deal. Was told it would be assembled and ready- but was not - took 2 trips and wasted 2 hours and 30 miles to get this fixed and to make them live up to purchase agreement. Glad it worked as returns and refunds impossible and scandalous - not consumer friendly. Never told the entire story - was told not available at the local store but when I arrived after waiting a week - one was there fully assembled which they gave to me on my second trip in exchange for the box

I got "stuck" mowing her lawn (once a week). I gave her my old Craftsman so her "tenant" can mow and save me the trip. So..I got myself a new one. Started on the 1st pull...Looking forward to the 1st mowing!!

Came with a pint of oil. I put in the oil, added gas. One pull -- first time and every time.

If you're like me and can't get ethanol-free gas, definitely add STA-BIL. Brand new gas, brand new gas can, brand new mower, and it was not running smoothly. Added STA-BIL, let it run for a couple minutes to mix in and get in the gas line, and everything fine.

                      UPDATE

Mower is still running and working like new. One gentle pull is all it takes to start it. Doesn't smoke, runs great zero problems.

I wanted to wait until the engine was broken in before talking about fuel consumption. It takes me about a 1/2 hour to mow my yard. I can do it twice then the engine is on fumes after that.

I have since used the deck wash feature a couple times. It just simply shoots an open stream of water onto the underside of the deck and the blade with the engine running just slings it all around. Works ok, I wouldn't suggest it for if you just cut really thick grass or it's packed on heavily. For me, the mower so light, it's just easier to prop up the mower and clean it that way. Still use the engine to dry it off afterwards.
