This product really intrigued me and demonstrates Milwaukee's innovative designs and promising foray into hand tools for professionals. The integration of a good needle nose and stripper is great. I was especially glad to see the reamer / file placed on the outside of the needle nose. This is something I've waited years for. Unfortunately the file hashes are perpendicular to the needle nose and poorly ream 1/2 and 3/4 EMT. The file hashes should be crossed at an angle like a normal file and possibly finer. The intent of reaming EMT is for a smooth surface to not scar or create friction across wires when pulled. The other more problematic design are the short insulated handles. I know it's marked "do not use on live circuits" and that is not recommended but as professional electricians we do it all the time. And for a professional electrician's tool this needs to be considered with a longer handle (that is otherwise very ergonomic / comfortable) and / or create a raised top near the metal part of tool. Similar design should be part of any linesman. Klein (see Journeyman) and others recognize this. For this risk / reason I can't use your tool for daily wiring because of the short handles and my fingers making contact with metal while manipulating live wires. Stripping up to #8 stranded would also be nice but understand this might make it bulky. It's an otherwise impressive and versatile design that must be limited to wires that are not energized. Which isn't always the case for most electricians no matter what the rules are.

These are very different from most other wire stripping pliers available on the market. Milwaukee deserves credit for the innovative design and there are several great features that I feel were improved upon as compared with other wire strippers. First, the needle nose can actually be used as a viable needle nose which saved me from carrying around a separate tool. Secondly, these pliers cut 6-32 and 8-32 screws better than any other pair I've owned. Unfortunately, the conduit reamer does not work and, as mentioned in other reviews, the locking mechanism broke fairly soon after purchasing. Also, there are very few times that I can think of in the trade that I would need wire strippers and a pipe reamer at the same time. Because of the broken locking mechanism I have stopped using these and switched to another pair. Milwaukee needs to improve upon design and construction for me to recommend these to a co-worker.

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee 6 -In- 1 1/2 in. Combination Pliers (48-22-3069):

As an Electrician who has used several brands of wire strippers I have settled on my Milwaukee 6-in-1 pliers, they are the ultimate set of wire strippers. As others have mentioned, Milwaukee's goal of creating multitools to eliminate the need to carry separate tools is admirable and appreciated.

This tool just feels right in your hand, other strippers feel flimsy by comparison. The needlenose tip is very usable and strong, thanks! The cutter blades stay sharp and work great.

Sounds like they've addressed the locking clip issue, glad this has been changed to metal instead of plastic. I too had a pair that I broke the clip on almost immediately.

The only issue I have is that the bolt cutter is too thick, if you have to trim cover plate screws, you cannot cut them short enough for devices set in tile, you know what I mean guys. Fortunately, my Linesman pliers bolt cutters are recessed more for better depth control.

Chuck your other strippers and buy a set of these now, you won't regret it.

These are the best strippers on the market klien needs to take a page out of Milwaukee book here. The needle nose stripper combo is Awesome and the reamer would be great but the hashes are placed in the wrong direction. Also the locking mechanism is great but the plastic is just plastic thus breaking easily and gets weak quickly. I would like to see the same design in the locking mechanism but made from the same metal as the pliers or as strong as. And resolve the file design and turn it into a reaming design. I look forward to buying the updated version of this product it will for sure get s 5 star review.

                The good:

These are an amazing pair of wire strippers. As a contractor there are times that I have to slap on the electricians pouch for little things here and there. And what I love about this tool and others from the Hand Tool lune is that it really does what they set out to do, eliminate a pouch full of tools. The one tool replaces full sized needle nose pliers, strippers, cutters, and etc.

                The bad:

The ONLY thing that keeps me from giving this product annoying ct a full five stars is, which seems to be a common complaint, is the locking mechanism. I'm sad to say with it being a Milwaukee tool, this part of it was, well, rather cheap. It's mistakenly made of plastic. And like others described, the plastic loosens and the pliers open themselves. Basically the locking mechanism is weak and we'll, sometimes just doesn't work. It isn't that big of a deal to me, it was annoying at first but the rest of the too got me to compromise.

                Please Milwaukee,
Release a revised version of the tool with the locking problem taken care of. The I am a absolutely proud of owner of many many Milwaukee tools, from the Hand Tools to almost the complete M18 line, including the impressive FUEL tools.

                Please review!!

                Still Team Milwaukee!!

before you all get huffy I know all about safety, but as an electrician in the field, most of my days are troubleshooting. Leave the makeup for the kids.

Troubleshooting often means everything is live when looking for problems.

Working on live wires with a pair of plyers that has an exposed metal can lend for quite a surprise.

I love these things except for the single time I took a shock when using them to strip a wire.

I am not a big fan of the plastic lock and spring so I removed those.

I would recomend them but with a warning about the shock potential.

Make a pair with the insulated grips running up the handle further and I will trumpet these from rooftops.

This tool should be standard issue for all electricians. Every pair of wire strippers that I've owned, could be used as needle nose pliars, and this is the only one of them that you can actually use for this purpose. They cut and strip wire as good as Klien, or Greenlee, but the needle nose function is what makes them stand out. The reeming function is nice, although I wouldn't use this tool over a reeming conduit driver, or Linesman Pliars, and the locking mechanism needs improvement. Other than that, this tool is awesome.

These strippers are amazing. They're beefy, strong and well built. The lack of a "rivet hinge" makes this tool a real winner.

I make use of this tool many times every day, even if I don't strip a single wire. The needle nose is very strong and works fine for knockouts and reaming smaller pipe (1/2").

My only issue is the locking mechanism. It's a plastic slide that tends to 'let go' whenever it decides. If you can get used to just leaving them open and unlocked, they'll make a great addition to your tool pouch.

Comments about MILWAUKEE ELECTRIC TOOL C Milwaukee 6 -In- 1 1/2 in. Combination Pliers (48-22-3069):

Absolute best strippers out there. I have been in the electrical industry for over 12 years and have never been happy with klein, craftsman, or snap on strippers. The are absolutely amazing, I like them so much I bought every guy in my shop a pair. And I dont even own the company!

Apart from the obvious,y (being made in Taiwan...)the only drawback is the "plastic" tool lock. It has A VERY generous cutting area for the wire, and the needlenose part is a very good size also. it is really, really comfortable to use all day long and I generally don't like the "all-in-one type of tools, this really is a stand-alone tool for electricians. I almost always use AWG 12 AND I am more than happy to use this tool alone. Got mine in Mexico!
