Pros: Performs very well and as intended. Large capacity, so the tank does not need to be refilled more than once or twice per day. In this Honeywell unit, the heating element is at the base of the small reservoir where the water is heated. That makes it easier to clean than other warm mist humidifiers that use a heating element that is immersed into the water. To remove the mineral deposits that are left behind after the water is evaporated, you can just pour vinegar into the base (rather than having to immerse the heating element in vinegar).
Cons: If you have hard water in your area, you will have to clean the unit more frequently to remove hard water mineral deposits. When I ran the unit for two weeks before cleaning (as suggested by the manual), it took over 24 hours of soaking in vinegar to remove the deposits. Weekly cleaning seems to work ok. A double thickness felt pad lies on top of the heating element, which is intended to collect the mineral deposits. But the deposits still build up on the heating element itself.
