I have tried everything to get rid of the strong smells to no avail. But I really loved this filter. It does work! It smells a lot when I cook and first, I am embarrassed to leave my building smelling and second I don't like when my condo smells.
I turn it on when I cook and when I'm done I turn it off. Zero smells!

This has been very helpful in clearing dust from the air after cleaning the cats' litter boxes as well as controlling any ammonia smell; one filter works excellently in smaller room for this purpose. Two are necessary to effectively reduce the smell of smoke from a larger room but haven't been intrusively noisy like other air purifiers.

I use this in pet area. It does an awesome job of keeping the odors from my rabbit away. Best thing I've come across in awhile. The ONLY con was that I couldn't figure out how to tell when the filter needed to be changed, the test strip never changed colors for me.
