I was looking for an attractive hose reel for my front yard and thought this basket reel would be perfect. But this hose reel is difficult for several reasons. First, there is a slide-type lever on the inside which unlocks the reel from the basket. This lever is very hard to slide--the clerk at the store nearly broke it trying to unlock the reel to see what length hose would actually fit on the reel(the instructions indicate a 60' hose would work, but that's just not possible. I bought a 50' hose and barely got it to wind completely onto the reel). Next, the hose needs to be attached at a place inside the reel which is extremely difficult to reach and thus makes it hard to tighten the hose. The biggest problem is winding up the hose. It is hard to do and requires one hand to hold the basket steady and one hand to turn the knob, which is located inside the basket on top of the reel. The hose did not wind easily and kept getting caught on the reel edges and the sides of the basket. Also,the basket is low to the ground so stooping or crouching is necessary in order to pull the hose out and to rewind it. I can't imagine the basket will remain firmly on the ground when the hose is pulled out (I was attaching the hose to the reel while inside the house in order to keep the reel clean, in case I needed to return it). I found the hose reel so difficult, I returned them (it is a 2-reel package)and will try to find something else. Very disappointing.
