I have to say this unit saved me I don't like gas and I live in a mobile home its 70 feet long and 11 feet wide and it covers the hole mobile like a central unit would. I was looking for an ac/heat wall unit when I came up to this and I have to say it was a better pick for me cost wise. My three boy's love it and so do I. A fire screen would give off a more real look to but other then that its fine.

We replaced our old electric logs with this unit in our fireplace in the family room, which is made of wood, not styrofoam. It gives such a nice ambience in the cooler weather. We also have a CD of a crackling wood fire, which we play when it's running. Our son put little black speakers inside the fireplace box where you can't seem them. However, we do not run the heating unit because no matter how many times we've tried to use it, it stinks like dead fish. That is the one flaw and complaint we have; other than that, it is a beautiful addition to the room. We just don't understand what the horrible smell is all about! I will never use the heat again.

I purchased this product to insert in a mantel I purchased, which I put my television on, and it looks wonderful. The room is medium size and it heats up nicely since that part of the house does not get heat, this is my sitting area and I just love the ambiance that it gives the room, some of my friends think its real and they wont to purchase one as well. I do hope that they would make try to make some with a thermosat so that when the room warms up it will shot of automaticly.

A real fire is messy, costly and a lot of work. A real fire, once out, lets out all the heat up the chimney. Now I have a very efficient fireplace that flips on with a flick of the remote. The flames are very realistic and the glowing embers round out the "Show" with a romantic ambiance. Yes, if you look hard enough your friends may figure it out. However, the overall look and feel of this unit easily convinced you it's real enough. I only wish I learned about this unit years earlier.

It is good for what I wanted. My fireplace is from 1913. When the damper is open it drains the house of heat. They also didn't put a radiator in the living room because this room has a fireplace. I bought this Dimplex to put into the fireplace mostly because of the heater/fire look. We need "some" heat in this room. Its a safe place to run a space heater type product because there is no wood/carpet/drapes in the fireplace. I don't like the cheap logs. These could be much better. They are a carved, painted styrofoam. They look okay but way to cheap and the rest of the unit is built so nice.
