Comments about G.E. XST Paintable Silicone II (GE7000) - 12 Pack:

This is great stuff, BUT pay close attention to the expiration date. Use old stuff and it will NEVER cure. You basically wind up with silicone grease that is impossible to clean up and nothing will ever stick to the application area ever again.

We have a well constructed, nine year old house with stucco over Integra Block and some wood trim. The few places where the stucco developed cracks have remained invisible for the three years since I last painted. None of the cracks have grown. Really amazingly good stuff. My two neighbors subsequently used it for the same purpose and are also very pleased. I believe it is worth the premium price.

Comments about G.E. XST Paintable Silicone II (GE7000) - 12 Pack:

I own a 50 year old home with heavily damaged cedar shank siding. I have used this product in order to fill cracks prior to repainting. I used a urethane based product, which is suppose to be a superior product for applications such as this. However, I have been very disatisfied with its performance. This paintable silicone product has been far superior in terms of adhesion and elasticity. I cannot attest to its performance with the use of oil based paints, but I have had absolutely no problems when painting over this caulk with latex paints. I have also used this caulk to seal around the exterior of new vinyl windows and so far (1 year later in a heavily weathered climate), no problems with adhesion.

Comments about G.E. XST Paintable Silicone II (GE7000) - 12 Pack:

I purchased this desiring high adhesion but paintable formulation. I was installing wallframing in a library with a white enamel on lower half in contrast with a gray eggshell top half.

I used the caulk on chair rail, sub-rail, 15 wall frames, baseboard and shoe-rail. It was painted with oil-based high-quality primer and two coats on B. Moore oil-based enamel.

I waited two days to allow the caulk to set up before painting. After 3-4 days after painting it began to bleed a yellow substance through all coats of paint. What a disaster. Apparently the caulk has numerous problems with specific lots being recalled.
