I bought this unit to check a propane smell by my hot water heater. It showed no problem. I check the unit on my gas grill and it went to red.
I continue having the smell of propane and kept checking with no alert. A plumber had replace a part on the hot water heater and it was leaking gas from the connection. The leak was found by spraying soap on the connection. I had held the unit one inch from this spot and never showed a problem. This unit is junk do no waste your money and could cost you your life.

Instructions were clear and device worked once?(green) Tried a retest and it indicated leaks(yellow) but not consistantly at any given point. TOOK IT OUTSIDE and turned it back on and it stayed yellow after its calibration.Out in the street... same thing several tries. Took it back to store and got another, about the same results except yellow light came on inconsistantly with additional test locations. I cannot find any leaks with the bubble test.

The LCM Direct® Portable Gas Detector is just what I was loking for. Two other brands at almost the same cost were not good. This detector lights up and sounds a beep if gas is at a dangerous level. It will not pick-up trace amounts of leaks as far as I have tested. This is acceptable to me.
For trace amounts of leaks I use the old and reliable soap and water test. This is to me very reliable and made well.

I brought this Item and used it to detect an oven leak. I found the leak the gas detector work properly. But now it keeps beeping and a red light flashes when no gas is present. I took it outside and tried fresh air, it’s obvious not working.

I recently purchased this product for my home. It was very easy to use. There are three lights that indicate the level of gas in there air. Overall, great item to have around the house in case you ever feel there is a gas leak.
